Maybe by using any enchentable metal and then using an awesome source of power (lorkhan heart) to sustain it.

Probably something like that, and understanding Dwemer engineering (or in the case of the Imperfect, whatever kind of technology he used) is likely needed too. The details of the process are never revealed to the player though, and likely known only to those characters who managed to create such things, otherwise, there would be much more of them.

Agreed. I assume a master engineer or architect combined with a divine power source is all one would need to do the job. Not really though, Im just bad at sarcasm.

Amazing that Dagoth Ur managed to get so far in constructing Akulakhan, considering that Aryon had the Numidium blueprint.

Possibly he could have learned something from the battle at red mountain, and the period after in which he was guarding Kagrenacs tools. All that time alone mixed with temptation and power probably sparked Ur's curiosity to delve into the hearts power, and begin devising his own Anumidium of sorts.

And considering that Tel Vos is a relatively new, I wonder if Dagoth Ur had the plans at one time or another, but they were taken from him. Of course, given the progress he's been making, he either didn't need them at all or he had a photographic memory, being a god.

Given your reasoning I would bet that its a mixture of both. Then again, him being a god could be all of the reasoning.

What was Dagoth waiting for before he was going to activate Akulakahn? Could he have activated it say during the MQ of Morrowind? Or was it still incomplete?

Yes, it was incomplete. It was missing various parts, but it was pretty close to being complete, considering how long he's been building it.

Why make one when you can buy one? ;)

trough determination and much, much love. but maybe it's all part of the plan that is carried out by brainwash spores eminating from the heart.

i mean, everyone who got near it either went totally bonkers or achieved enlightement.

I think it is the power that one would achieve from contact with the heart that would drive them insane, or to enlightenment as you put it. However, I'm rusty on 'brainwashing spores' information to be honest.

maybe it's not divine brainwash spores, but microscopic small miniature scarabs that happily gnaw on their brains.

but i don't really have any idea, either. i don't understand all this lore talk of building giant gods of brass that are created to undo all of creation so that one race may finally had some goddamned questions answered. or a big scary, though somewhat generous, monarchy of changed folk that share divine cancer with their pawns.

what the hell are we even talking about? where is my shirt. :|

Dagoth-Ur just exited Morrowind and checked a FAQ online. That's how he figured out how to build his robot.

to get a Akulakahn Dagoth Ur just had collect tokens from his favorite cereal(dwemerOs) and send them away

unfortunetly Dagoth Ur dident realise it was DIY job as the cereal only sent the parts

Since Dagoth Ur is directly "plugged into" the heart of the God of the World himself, a being with knowledge which dwarfs that of any mortal, it's not surprising he gained knowledge on how to built a Giant Stompy Thing.

Dagoth Ur kept on buying more and more packets, but could not find the rares ... "Ohhh noes saith he, what shall I do with the stuff, I can't possibly eat this much?"

Oooh I knows, I shall bung them into that there volcano mouth, over there ... no one will ever know!

That night the Volcano started smoking ...

Several months later everyone locally started to suffer from really severe cases of Heart-burn and gout! ... and then they got really , really temperamental ...
