List of New Features Confirmed Today

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 7:24 pm

Lots of threads have already been created about the new features Todd discussed in the interview released today, but I wanted to create a post where we can just keep track of new confirmed features. If you have any more NEW features to add to the list, copy the features previously mentioned and include them in your post.

-each archetype has its own crafting system.
--the one for magic is enchanting,
---so we probably won't have spell crafting
-Levitation will definitely not be included
-there is some way to ride a dragon, but not for traveling purposes
-there are more weapon and armor types
--at least some will have new designs
-increasing a highly progressed skill will progress your character's level faster than increasing a skill you have not progressed far with.
-shields can bash enemies
-inishing moves are played randomly if you perform certain attacks as you're killing an enemy
-players can fast travel to previously visited areas, and carriages can fast travel to certain unvisited areas
-multiple dragons can be fought at once
-perks range from doing extra damage with a certain weapon to all new things like special moves, disarming and critical strikes

You should probably mention that the parts about levitation and dragon riding were most likely jokes.

Also, the items I marked in bold aren't new. Just thought I'd mention that. Good list though. :goodjob:

Also, for reference, here's the link to the http://pc.ign.com/articles/115/1158651p1.html this thread is referring to.

Best news is the carriages, in my opinion.

I remember the ads for Arena. The "Spellmaker™" had a special place along the list of reasons why you really had to buy this game.

Daggerfall's advertising campaign also hyped how the Spellmaker™ from Arena had been enhanced and multiplied into now a PotionMaker™ and an ItemMaker™ as well.

Then came Morrowind. The Item Maker was now enchanting (and greatly nerfed BTW), the Potion Maker was now alchemy, but the Spellmaker was still there, as hale and hearty as ever.

Then Oblivion. The Spellmaker got its first change in its history, as now it was tied to activating an item rather than tied to an NPC service. Still, it was there, as were alchemy and enchanting.

And now, with Skyrim, the Spellmaker is finally dead. Survived by one of its children.

Yeah, some of that stuff isn't new. But what I've been contemplating is that when mentioning the perks, Todd said that we can learn special attacks. I wonder if this just refers to something like what has been said before (ex. axes causing bleeding out) or new types of finishing animations/something similar to Oblivion's "perks" when increasing a certain skill (e.g. increasing blade to a certain level allowing you to backspin slash).

I like the carriage, but only if i can sit in it for the entire journey (in-game real time) and watch the world of Skyrim drift by. Oh, and beat of bands of bandits along the way.

Neither of these are necessarily true/false.
