Reloading/Crafting/Workbench?

Post » Thu Sep 02, 2010 1:13 am

When I use a campfire or reload bench or workbech I get nothing when the menu displays. I do have some ingredents but they do display. There is also something about skill.

Has anybody got this to work? Is this for hard only?

Oh, as posted in a previous thread I do have a graphic display problem with the craft page. The border is broken and the font of the letters is way too big.

I got the reload bench screen to actually work, sort of. It listed all the items and skill, it appears skill level of 50 repair helps. But when I put the cursor over any of the items on the list I get this buzzing sound. The graphic fonts are alos wonky. There's no scroll up or down arrow or the slider. Is this a bug? How do I update the game or does Steam do it automatically.

I don't like Steam ... I don't like having to deal with Big Brother inorder to play. If I had paid $20 ... not a problem but for $50 that's a bit much. This is all to stop hackers from stealing the game??

I have a similar issue. not as bad but an issue nevertheless.

When I place the cursor over a list of ingredients that require scrolling, I get that buzzing sound (essentially the "click" sound when a cursor passes over an item except repeated rapidly so it sounds like a buzzing sound). The border is also misaligned.

I'm not sure if it's related but it seems like shortly after I experience this issue, the game crashes to destop. It's hard to tell sense it seems to crash to desktop every 10-20 mins.

I get nothing when I click except the buzzing I might not have that the right stuff. But I went back to a bench and got zip this time, no items displayed at all. I have had crashes but not that frequent. If the game is this buggy then they better patch it up quick. They svckered a lot of people into buying this rad roach so ... get on it Bethesda!

To make items you have to have the associated skill at the right level. Also I don't understand why you are clicking anything, yes you will get an error noise if you do that. Hover your mouse over the item you want to make and have the right skill and ingredients for, and press the A button - you don't click the item.

Just hovering the cursor over an item I get the buzzing. Also I got a display of ingredenets once ... now I get nothing ... not changed my inventory one bit. So these work benches are buggy. As for associated skill ... you mean guns or repair or what?

That's an odd one then, I've been regularly using all crafting options both before and after the latest patch and the only thing that has changed is that recipes you can make (due to skill and ingredients in inventory) are moved to the top of the list.

By associated skill I mean repair, science, survival - whichever skill is associated with a particular recipe. If the recipe says "survival 10/50" and is greyed out it means you need another 40 points in survival to use that recipe, if it says repair 70/50 then it means you should be able to make the recipe provided you have all the ingredients in your inventory.

It seems to be a graphic's problem. The fonts for the headers are extra large, for the screen on the right compared to the screen on the right headers. I only got the ingredients to display/list once and when I put the cursor over anything it buzzed, it freaked me out so I didn't do much but exit the screen. The distorted frame about the right screen is also disturbing. The work benches also give me a similar display, not like the old Fallout 3 bench where it listed the items available to build as a function of what blueprints you had. Who every reprogrammed the craft benches really screwed the pooch.

I don't know if this is of any use but when I started the game I bypassed the tutorial. So I never got the instructions to use any of the crafting system. I don't know if this is the cause. I went on YouTube and saw what the crafting screen should look like and I did notice one thing. If you selected a campfire ... the word campfire displayed, but don't on my display. Also I did not notice the left screen displaying anything but my inventory. I need to check that again.
