Hircine's Hunt DLC

Post » Thu Sep 02, 2010 1:23 am

My favorite part of Greg Keyes' novel The Infernal City was the hunt in Hircine's realm. Anyone else think it would be an awesome setting for a Shivering Isles-sized DLC for Skyrim?

Also, on a total side note, is there any news on Greg Keyes second novel? I feel like it should have been at least announced by now? Forgive me if this has already been talked about...

We already had a Hicirine DLC in Morrowind. Not sure if they'd do something so similar again.

Is that what Bloodmoon was all about? I never played any of the expansions for Morrowind...

Yea. The Main Quest of Bloodmoon was of Hircine conducting a Hunt he does every Era in Nirn. In this hunt, Hircine arrived with his werewolves to prey upon the inhabitents of Solshteim. In the game, he chose four great hunters worhty of being in his last hunt, one of which is you. So you have to face him in the end of the game. Yu can ever become a werewolf and serve him.

But I would love to see an expansion the size of that Shivering Isles stuff in Oblivion. I hope we get to see Hircine's Realm and hunt there as a werewolf. Or for the other players who dislike being a werewolf and werebears, run for their lives. But I doubt it, since Bethesda said the DLC will be like Fallout; Short and insignificant.

Yeah, playing through FO3 recently with all DLC's really made me realise how awesome and massive the Shivering Isles is in comparison. Really do hope for another one of that magnitude for Skyrim.

Bad idea. Was already made for Morrowind. And it was awesome.

A DLC should be something we haven't already done or visited in Morrowind or Oblivion.

Doesn't have to be DLC, The Hircine quest can simply be a hunt. Transport us to his plane (forest regien) and have a quest play out. Wouldn't be hard.

We may not have been to Hircine's realm, yet, but we have done the hunt already. Simply changing the location of the event doesn't really seem to warrant doing the event a second time. Not when there are so many other things to be done, still.

I think the fight with Hircine at the end of Bloodmoon was technically supposed to take place in his realm. When you first see him, he says something like "Make your way to my Hunting Grounds" which is the name of his realm.

That said, it's too soon. A Great Hunt happens once every era, and it IS a new era, but we hopefully have plenty of Fourth Era left. Too soon for another Great Hunt.

True. Well, Hircine must be included in the game. Maybe a few quests for him or otherwise.

Yeah. If nothing else, I'm sure we have a shrine quest or two to look forward to.

I've alwaaays thought this would be a cool expansion pack but never wanted to mention it because I was afraid it'd seem too similiar to Hircine's quest line in Bloodmoon (never played Morrowind). Having a wide-open hunting ground like Greg Keyes described in his novel would be sooo awesome! :foodndrink:

I think Atmora is a horrible idea for a DLC but to each his own.

Going to Moonshadow is the easy part, ever wanting to leave is the hard part

The DLC doesn't HAVE to focus on Hircine and his great hunt but it would be nice to see him featured again. Perhaps something dealing with the decline of the Man-beast or something involved with any changes in that regard in the past 200 years.

We already dabbled a bit with Hircine in Bloodmoon, so BGS would have to take it another direction. As far as DLC is concerned, I wouldn't expect another Shivering Isles-sized DLC in Skyrim. Pete Hines even stated in a podcast that the massiveness of Shivering Isles (while was obviously a great success) was very time consuming and required a lot of funds. He claimed that BGS did just as well with the smaller DLC updates with Fallout 3 in terms of sales, so I wouldn't be surprised if we get more frequent mini-DLCs.
