IGN: Can you ride dragons in Skyrim?

Todd Howard: Not in the way you're asking.

So what do you think he means? It can be serious or funny just guess.

I think you will get grabed by a dragon(somehow) and get flown in the air.

yeah, I thought of that too... first I thought he meant "not in the way you're asking" as in, you should have asked nice "can I please ride a dragon Mr Todd?"

But then I thought... maybe there is some way to ride it somehow, just not as the classical "mount" theme

He's Joking in many European countries riding means having six and in this case he is refering to the player having six with the dragon not riding it.

I think he means that theres gonna be some part of the game where you need a dragon to fly you to a certain place (probably near the end of the main quest), and by that i mean you would talk to the dragon tell him to take you here and then bam - load screen, you get taken to the location. Or later in the game you can use dragons in certain spots to fast travel to other spots sort of like their carriage system. Or like you said, a dragon will grab you and fly you to some place on top of a mountain or something like that and you can look around while you fly there but it'd probably only be a one time storyline thing.

I thought Dragons could shapeshift into humans. That would certainly make it possible...

Huh? In European countries? That's a term here in America too.

Either a six joke or alluding to a certain method of defeating the colossal Alduin. Hmmm? Hmmmm!!!?? Nah probably Todd's nice humor haha.

I took it to mean that the bastard can take you for a ride in it's jaws, then drop little pieces of you all over the countryside of Skyrim...

I'm thinking the tone of the interviewer must've been the reason why Todd said that.

It was a sixual innuendo. Todd Howard made a six joke...awesome.

So that doesn't exactly rule out dragon mounts...although I do think I read somewhere before that you can't get dragon mounts anyway, only call one into battle through the use of a dragon shout, which is still...very...VERY epic, I mean come on....who doesn't want to witness two mighty dragons duking it out in the skies whilst you take cover behind a rock to protect yourself from the scorching fires of their breath?

All kidding aside, I'm thinking that what he is referring to is a possible ability of the dragons to pick you up and drop you. I'd like to see that.

You may not be able to ride a dragon, but if it's any consolation, you can ALWAYS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQYVRr0EYBA

Maybe it ties in with the 'finishing moves' - lifted off the ground and carried across the map while you struggle to pierce through the scales with your spear

(jk about the spear lol)

Didn't notice this second one.

Againte last few questions were on things their still deciding and working on/can't comment on. Riding horses/Dragons/Combining two spell attacks fly under this.

Todd made a joke out of the dragon question.

Key word was "ride." sixual Innuendo bud. Might want to go ask your ol man.

And unsure if your joking about the European thing.

"Ride" is a word in pretty much every major world language and seeing as language is just a made up communication tool every language has it.

And ride translates to sixual innuendo for just about everybody. Since you know, six keeps humans around on the Earth through birth.

Plus Todd is American. And the Bethesda Game Studio is an American dev studio with multicultural and most likely multinational people.

So. Back to IGN/Todd's potential interest in beastiality.

its just an innuendo... dont read too much into it.

I for one dont want to ride a dragon... sort of contradicts the whole plot.
