Euclid's C-Finder no longer working

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 10:32 am

So I completed the quest "That Lucky Old Sun" and activated Archimedes II, along with buying Euclid's C-Finder from the kid in Freeside. I was able to get a few shots off with this superweapon, but after trying to use the laser on a veteran ranger at Camp Forlorn Hope, I got the activation animation (three orange lines, dial-up noise), but no shot, and my one shot vanished.

I didn't worry though; perhaps the game simply forgot to take away the shot when I previously used it. So I decided to wait 24 hours. Nothing. I waited another 24 hours. Nothing. And I tried one last time, and still nothing. I decided to give up and see if maybe it'd just replenish shortly later, but after about two [real, not game time] hours, it STILL won't function.

I know the easiest solution is to open a previous save file, but my last save was at the time that I activated Archimedes II and I've completed several quests, which I'd rather not have to do all over again.

Is there any other possible way to get the Archimedes II laser working again?

Tried that several times; wouldn't work.

Looks like I'm just going to have to do a ton of quests all over again to get it working again. =/

Taken from the Wiki:

Sometimes the Euclid's C-Finder will not fire after targeting an area leading to the tracking beam following your movements constantly. A possible fix for this is to save and reload your game: watch out because this may cause the laser to fire on where you are standing within a few seconds of the reload. Another way to fix this is to wait the tracking beams out. Again be careful: if you enter within a certain range of the beam and stand there, the beam of energy will come down and destroy you. To avoid this, aim your current weapon at a more distant target. This should cause the beam to discharge away from you. Sometimes fast-travelling somewhere will fix it. WARNING the weapon may remain in this state indefinitely making it a waste of space and money, given that you won't be able to fire it again. Potential Fix Found: Open the console and type player.additem e07d1 1 to manually add the Archimedes II laser itself to your inventory, then equip and fire it once. This fixed Euclid's C-Finder for me.

If you're on PC, you may wish to try this out and maybe it will fix your current problem with the weapon :)

In my case, traveling back to the HELIOS One tower (outside the room where you set the power target perimeter, the outer deck where mirrors face you) and shooting a fresh shot between 9am and 3pm fixed the issue.

Unfortunately I'm running New Vegas on the PS3. Thanks for the tip though.

Thanks. I'll try that out after the World Series game is over.
