FCOM utterly destroys performance?

Without any mods I was getting almost constant 60 FPS no matter what on Ultra High settings with 8x AA.

After installing FCOM I am getting 25-60 FPS on High settings with only 2x AA, and my game is extremely stuttery which kills immersion.

Should FCOM really have that huge of an impact?

Sounds about par for the course. Oblivion Stutter Remover (OSR) can help you. It's an OBSE plugin that will, properly configured, smooth the stuttering and jerkiness. But, a heavily modded game (and FCOM counts) is probably not going to give you a steady 60 FPS.

Post your load order via Wrye Bash: right-click File-header > list mods > paste into post.

I agree with gothemasticator - that sounds normal. Even with the updated files.

FCOM is a heavy heavy mod and as I understand it the main culprit is the extra spawn points all over the place and the increased mobs spawned at each location. These are a drag on the cpu and regardless of video card can weigh the frame rates way down.

try going out past the borders or on the edge of the map away from any towns or ares of interest. You will see your frame rates rise.

Just basic FCOM as you listed also drove my frame rates down some 20+ points on average everywhere I go in the tamriel/cyrodiil worldspace ... city spaces and interiors not so much. But areas like caves and ruins once you hit high enough level and FCOM starts spitting out 30 actors in an interior cell - yeah you will get drag there too. But worry not because they will all be rushing to their death - it will just be a slide show till the die.

Oblivion Stutter Remover is one of the best partial fixes for this. +1 to that.

You should update FCOM to http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1152645-relz-fcom-convergence-and-ufcom/ as MMM 3.7b3p3 requires it. And while you're at it, update WarCry and FCOM_WarCr to 1.09.

That shouldn't do much about the performance, though. Try using one of the FCOM reduced spawns esp's. FCOM affects performance mainly via added enemies, so reducing the spawn rate is the best way to deal with it. Wait 4 days for a respawn after adding it.
