At this point, there is absolutely no way to fool anyone on april 1'st. For that reason, why make a realistic but fake article? At this point, you can just go over the top for humour's sake. It isn't like they wrote this article thinking anyone would believe it, so don't go accusing the author of not knowing how to fool people properly. April fools has been so overdone that it has lost its deceitful quality. I thought he did a decent job of providing rationale for why the game was cancelled. This forum is filled with a lot of bitter people overanolyzing things, and if Beth really took the forum community seriously they wouldn't make any new games. Is it the most funny thing I have ever seen? Of course not, but it isn't a travesty or anything.

Could have gone for a more interesting one and said that Todd Howard had announced the inclusion of spears in a random interview with a foreign magazine or something. With random quote and link to Aprils Fools announcement.
Canceled was too big and obvious.

It was a good April Fool's joke, but a bit too obvious.
A better one to get people attention would be to say that the release date was shortened or something.
