oblivion on vista, not installing!

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 6:17 pm

i have The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion: Game of the Year Edition and a windows vista but my vista can't read disk 2 and 3. i installed the first disk corectly but when it asked for "data 3" in disk 2, i take the first disk out and place the second in and said ok. then it the installation freezes for a while and says "Not Responding" then a thing pops up, gives the yellow triangle with a ! mark, and says

"setup could not find a file on the specified path or disk.

Please check that th proper disk is inserted or specify a new path."

so instead i cancel the installation and i tried to take out data 3 from disk 2 and data 4 from disk 3 but my computer is unable to read it, open it, or even load the picture of the cd. also, when i toke disk 2 and 3 out, they were both burning hot. oh and while disk 2 and 3 were in there, my computer made alot of noises like a vacuum and sometimes BEP.........BEP.

HELP as soon as possable becuz my dad says we'll have to return it on friday which is 2 days from now! HELP!!!

There is Sony DRM software on the DVD disk, and it's incompatible with a sizable percentage of non-Sony branded DVD drives, but Bethesda really doesn't care about those people, else they would have corrected that foolishness right away. They have chosen not to do anything that ever came to my attention. You can swap drives, you can borrow someone's external DVD, you can try copying to some folders on the Hdd, or you can install across your LAN from a PC with a DVD that Sony's crap doesn't reject.

Defragging the Hard Drive is a very good idea, do it regularly. However, it doesn't have any effect on whether the Sony SecureROM DRM rejects your DVD drive / is incompatible with it.
