Some ideas for Skyrim BETHESDA PLEASE READ

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 9:58 pm

1. I dont know about you guys but i loved some of the DLC for oblivion like the deepscorn hollow lair or the wizards tower or the fighters stronghold. I love the concept of being able to have a location or a "base" for the different type of players that people will be ( like stealth vampires and so forth ) so they can improve there stats or thieve skills or work on there alchemy ( please include with final game ).

2. More hair styles please!!! , again i dont know if you guys care about it but i felt oblivion had a good amount of choices but it needs alot more like the classic " long hair " look.

3. Keep the dynamic sound controls from oblivion and morrowind. I am a huge audiophile and one thing i love about both morrowind and oblivion is that you can customize the crap out of the presentation of the games sound and that its fairly high resolution and dynamic and has good bass down to 22-25hz.

4. A full brightness and gamma control for the video. I play on a 120" 3d front projector thats ISF calibrated but most people dont ( pc users dont have to worry since there RGB levels are perfect and most of the time have accurate gamma ) and when you play parts both morrowind and oblivion its a little TOO dark and the ability to adjust the gamma or brightness would be nice for most users.

5. This one is optional but i would like to see some " mini " games like maybe a bow and arrow shooting range competition and so forth.

6. Im a PC gamer and im happy for the DX11 support , but what would be awesome is if there was 3D support also

Thanks again , post if you have any other ideas

i pretty much agree with this man, but only add more hair styles if you have a better menu system for selecting them than in morrowind and oblivion (dear god takes forever). and othe dlc part was indeed good but i'd prefer a good old expansion rather than DLC. if you will have DLC you may consider to add co-op mode as a dlc since you're not focusing on multiplayer but you know a few ways how it can work but you're not gonna spend your time on it due to the 11/11/11 time frame you've got.. use DLC for it why dont'cha.

And the sounds in morrowind and oblivion (and undoubtedly skyrim) are amazing. i'm a fan of your sound director he's a genius.

1. Yes, that was nice. I was kind of lazy because, they were dlcs, but the idea of having a place that makes you feel like home (comfortable) is important. I'm no vampire, i didn't like the Vile Lair, i'm more of a thief, I liked the Thieves Den. It's good to have a choice.

2. Hm it was good for me I don't know xP but more (or actual) facial hair please, like fallout 3

3. I don't like to play without my headphones, just to get the full stereo feel, full inmersion. (wish I had surround headphones :( sound/music is important

5. Yes please!! It's nice to have more types of challenges, besides killing everything. Zelda games always had this kind of things

Zelda-like puzzles would be perfect for the Dwemer ruins.

Cool idea, as long as you aren't pushing solid stone blocks 5 times your size.

Yeah, Nords and Orcs could do that, but what about a Bosmer? Although I guess wood elf is the closest thing to a hylian raised as a kokiri.

About beards, there is a screenshot that proves to you, we will have beards, taken for granted this man's face is different from the trailer guy's, you will be able to select a beard. take a http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/rpg/elderscrollsvskyrim/images/0/7/?full_size=1 at the background, look at the man to the left.

and as for headphones, sure they bring great immersion but.. 7.1 surround speakers and living alone in a apartment ftw? :D

Most of these suggestions sound pretty fair with a few exceptions.

1. Forget Oblivion DLC, bring on Morrowind's Faction strongholds. Come on, a base that you get during the latter quests in a faction that you get to actively build? Awesome. And they all come full of ridiculous treasures and posh decor. Solstheim's mining camp questline was awesome as well. One of the BEST things in games, especially TES, is when the world physically changes around you. Even better than that is when the world changes because of your decisions. There is something magical about saying "I want there to be a smith [or a trader]" and the option you chose being there. It would have made my decade if after you finished the game in F3 you got to keep playing and suddenly things were slightly greener due to there being non-irradiated water.

2. I agree they need more hairstyles. I'd go further and say they should implement Fable's dynamic in-game character customization system. You can get tattoos, change your facial hair, and get new hairstyles on the fly.

3. No comment, sounds feasible

4. No comment, sounds feasible

5. I don't know about this one. I know "arrow competitions" are almost tradition for many action/RPGs (Zelda, Fable, Nox all had one if I remember correctly) but I don't think they are necessary. How much would this add vs. the time to code all of the mechanics for it? On the other hand, one thing that always vexed me was that your skill does increase from archery practice. It'd be silly for your melee skill to increase from hitting a stationary inanimate target but archery is only about aim. Shouldn't practicing your aim increase the skill?

6. I don't see why 3D support is needed in any way. Sure, it'd be nice, but it's far too much work for little gain. The supermajority of people who will play Skyrim will not have access to 3D displays and even if they did it would hardly enhance the experience by any large margin.

I agree, 3D would be nice but its not needed. its something bethesda should do after polishing the gameplay and they've done everything they wanted to do with the game, if they have a month or 2 they could add a prototype 3D support then patch it up every now and then.
