Installed Fast Exit

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 10:47 am

Something very weird has just happened.

I wanted to get the "fast exit" mod.

I downloaded the mod here http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22410
Chose the file called "FastExit 3 RC1"
Took the dll. file and put it into my oblivion/data/obse/plugins folder.

I then started the game to check if it worked. It did work as usual, I quit and started the game again.

Now I have got no sound in my game at all. Sounds in windows is fine and I have tried restarting my computer, didn't do anything.

what the helll did just happen???

I recommend you delete FE3 RC1 and get Fast Exit 2. FE3RC1 is just that, an Release Candidate.

Make sure music is still enabled in your Oblivion.ini. Just search for "music".

This is how it looks in the ini.

Everything is fine, right? Yet, I don't have any sound in the game at all. Other games works fine and it was JUST after putting the FAST EXIT dll. file in the obse/plugins folder, but no way that should alter anything sound related.

Has no one ever heard of this before?

I might suggest removing fast exit and trying Oblivion, this may help you determine if it is indeed the cause or if it's something unrelated. If removing it does seem to fix the problem, then I might second Malonn's suggestion, I don't know if this is a known issue with Fast Exit 3 or not, but since it's a release candidate, it seems possible that it might still have some bugs. I'm not necessarily saying that it has this problem, or that you won't experience it with version 2, but when trying to fix this kind of problem, I figure it's often worthwhile to try everything.

That was the first thing I did, deleting the file, guess I didn't mentioned that. But it didn't do anything...

So I understand correctly: Sound worked fine, you installed the FE3 RC .dll, then sound vanished. You got rid of the .dll again, and sound is STILL vanished?

Are you sure this was the ONLY thing you changed in that moment when you installed FE3 ? Not some new mod "on the side", a few Oblivion.ini tweaks "on the side" ? A few new mod tweaks via their .ini's ? Really just asking.

Possibly silly suggestions because totally basic: Do you still have a /data/music folder? Are there still .mp3 files in the subfolders in there? Can you play them by directly clicking on them? In-game, the music options are all set to play? (they should as per your .ini but still...)

Try deleting the Oblivion.ini and let the game generate a new one.

Otherwise I'm out of ideas. I never had that problem.

I didn't do anything but put the dll. file into the obse/plugins folder and started the game just to see if I could see any change when exiting the game. I exited and started the game up again to play. But now I had no sound.

Deleted the ini. file, but it didn't do anything.

I still have music and sound folder in my data folder and I can hear the music or sounds when clicking on them. All volume is turned all the way up in-game.

Deleted the oblivion ini. and started the game, didn't do anything.

This is just weird

Yes, totally indeed...

Did you report it in the Fast Exit thread (if there is one, I dunno) ?

I realize this might sound obvious, but have you checked to make sure you have sound and music outside of Oblivion? I'm just wondering if some non-game-related factor could be affecting the game, too, and coincidentally at the same time you installed FastExit. Check to see if your volume settings are still up in Windows, and that your sound hasn't been muted.

Sounds works perfect in my other games and in windows. I also hear the music when running the Oblivion Launcher, but as soon as I start the game, it's all muted.
