Who is Developing the DLC?

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 11:41 pm

With the recent debacle over news of the DLC, I'm wondering who will be developing it as the article had no statement. This thread is not for angry rants about whose not getting it but who is designing it Bethesda or Obsidian.

Bethesda is designing the DLC. You can look it up online, where it specifically states, "Bethesda is responsible for post-release content."

I remember someone from Obsidian say "We do have a plan for the DLC's".
So I think Obsidian will create them but Bethesda will probably need to give the okay for them to do so.

Microsoft.

Seriously though, the quotation: "Bethesda is responsible for post-release content" refers to Bethesda Softworks the publisher and not Bethesda Game Studios the developer. That is to say when Bethesda Softworks gives the green light Obsidian can develop DLC.

Whoever is developing it, I wish they'd provide themselves more time to do so. Even the most promising DLC Bethesda produced could have used at least twice the development time.

It's my understanding the Obsidian is developing the DLC's with Bethesda overseeing it just as FO:NV was done. I will try to find the link to the interview where this was said as soon as this jungle gets a bit quieter...if I mean.

Bethesda's DLC is typically very disappointing. Every piece of it for Oblivion was simple, straight forward and given to you from the moment you downloaded it. Why couldn't they just have it add content to the world for you to find like all the other game content? A bit better in FO3 but still not enough polish. Way too many bugs on release.
Obsidian on the other hand always releases buggy products. Just a company fact. The content within the buggy product is absolute gold though. The expansions for NWN2 were extremely fun. I absolutely love Storm of Zehir because it added in elements I felt the game needed. Far from perfect but still it was there.

I'm hopeful for good DLC but not for another several months. I want to enjoy the game that comes out tonight before really caring about DLC.
