Q about MMM diverse waterlife

I am installing MMM as we speak. I am asked if I want to install "diverse waterlife". In my download folder I have the MMM diverse waterlife update and it's just one esp. Can I just put in the update in my data folder or do I need to install diverse waterlife in the installing process of MMM, first?

It's just an esp so you only need the one in the update.
