That happened to me too, but it went away after taking out most of my OBSE mods. Right now, I am building a new setup. I was able to put almost all of my OBSE mods back, but now I am crashing after setting my character class in the start tutorial, go figure... My only guess then is that it had to do with a conflicting mod list, though I hvae also restored and re-patched all of the original files since having the issue.

Are you, by any chance, running OBGE v2?

Yes. Is that the problem because I am having the crash again.

Edit: The 'QuitGames' console command seems to get around whatever the issue may be...

That may still be the problem then.
Generally, if the game was working alright before whatever were the last steps you did with your installation, revert them and see if it works again. It is good to have like a journal were you keep track of the changes in your modlist, makes remembering the last steps much easier.

OBGE is most likely to be your culprit. It causes a crash on exit for me too (along with a few other users), even with FastExit2 installed. You can check for certain in Windows' Event Viewer--search in the Application Errors for the last time you played Oblivion and it crashed. If Windows gives the faulting module as "Faulting module name: OBGEv2.dll," there's your answer. If it says the faulting module is Oblivion.exe, then something else is causing the trouble. :)

Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out, but the console command is working for me just fine.

OBGEv2 is an OBSE plugin. It's not a regular ESP. So if you have it installed in your OBSE/Plugins directory, then it will load with the game. If you do, consider upgrading to the latest version of it. It can be downloaded in the OBGE thread. The latest version fixes the crash on exit.

Could you post the link to the latest DLL? I thought that was what I'd grabbed a couple days ago.
