Reloading Bug (can't perform actions after weapon reload)

(As you can see, standing still and reloading doesn't cause any issues. At 0:27 you can hear me spam clicking just as before, but the game is locked up.)

Character is fresh on a fresh install with 0 mods. I consoled in a .357 and 100 bullets.

Level 1
Strength: 4
Perception: 4
Endurance: 4
Charisma: 4
Intelligence: 10
Agility: 10
Luck: 7

Traits include Small Frame and Four-Eyes.

Considering numerous gun classed weapons utilize single-round-reloading (This is where when you reload a weapon you put in one round at a time, and can see your ammo count increase in increments of 1.), and run-and-gun tactics are widely used and a major part of an enjoyable FPS, I find that this bug deserves it's own thread.)

Bug: When you prompt a reload on the aforementioned weapons, or the reload occurs automatically, make sure you are moving. When the weapon has finished fully reloading you will be unable to take any actions for about 1-2 seconds.

Solution: Stop moving to reload, or discontinue use of such weapons.

-These weapons all have the unique characteristic of being able to be fired while reloading the weapon, perhaps this is part of the cause of this lockup?

More discussion can be found here: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1130512-reloading-bug/

I do apologize as the .44 magnum does not have this issue as it says in the title of that thread. It does not load 1 round at a time and therefore does not have these issues.

It's not just about .357 magnum, this bug is present in EVERY weapon which is loaded with "one by one bullet style" so that means: all shotguns (except Sawed Off), all .357 weapons, Trail Gun (it's a rifle for .44 cal ammo). Magnum for .44 is loaded with different style, it reloads full magazine at once (like weapons with magazines) so it's not affected by this bug.

Basically all my favorite weapons. :sadvaultboy:

Literally waiting on a fix before I play.

The hunter shotgun seems to do this a lot less often than the other weapons.

I notice I get the bug more often if I'm moving while the reloading animation is running, no problems so far if I dont move.

I have this issue, very annoying and game stopping bug. It should be patched ASAP. I pause playing until this is fixed.

There are a few more topics about this bug.
For example http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1140867-what-is-wrong-with-my-cowboy-repeater/ and http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1138327-unresponsive-keys/
Until there is an official patch for this, you can go http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36317 and download version B.
This has helped me and others. I haven't seen the bug since. :)

I have been experiencing this problem since the latest patch. (The same patch fixed a lot of stutter problems I was having btw. Thanks Bethesda.)

Guns that have been giving me problem so far is the .357 Magnum and the Cowboy Repeater. I've noticed that moving/standing still during reload does NOT affect this bug.
The problem only starts if I let it finish reloading on its own.

Example: Shoot all six rounds out of a .357 magnum, let it auto reload fully to 6 rounds. Bug strikes
Shoot all six rounds out of a .357 magnum, let it auto reload but click fire to stop the process. No bug.

When I DO let it finish reloading automatically, many keys stop registering (such as TAB, ESC, aim down sight). Movement keys work though. The solution that has been working for me is pretty simple, either stop the auto reload manually or click fire AFTER the bug starts and all keys starts to respond again.

edit: I forgot to mention, if you reload one of the affected weapons during a VATS animation you will be stuck forever while enemies bear down on you or your companions.

I don't know if it's a related bug, but does anyone get weird animations when they got knocked down or blasted from an explosion? The camera goes into 3rd person (if it isn't already) and the character slides around the area really weirdly and stays stiff. Lasts for about 5 seconds until the character gets up again.

It doesn't just happen during the reloading bug, it happens anytime. Maybe it is unrelated.

Wasn't the patch supposed to fix this? It hit me yesterday and it happens regardless of whether I'm standing, moving, crouching, whatever.

I think whatever it did made it worse. Heck, I never even saw this bug until the last patch.

I'm using the animation replacement mod linked-to above for the time being. It changes the reload animation, but for now it's a good stop gap until an official fix.
