Achievements not registering? (STEAM)

Post » Thu Sep 02, 2010 12:53 am

Heya. Im not sure if its a common problem that is easily fixed, or is a problem that lots of people have, and needs a patch.. Buuuuut...

After about getting my first three achievments, which sucessfully appeared in my STEAM profile/earned achievements... After that though, and many hours of gameplay later, none of my ingame achievements are not showing up in STEAM.. as in.. when you get to a certain level, complete a certain mission and you get a popup in game... STEAM usually pops up a split second later mirroring this.. in my case it does not.

Is there a fix for this, something getting un-linked... or does it have to do with bringing up the console (~)? I was told by one "clanmate" in a STEAM group chat room that using the console has to do with this problem... I used it to debug some things, as in stopping random attacks by friendlies against your followers (had one friendly npc start attacking Ed-D for no reason, resulting in a huge throwdown and loss of standing) as well as getting trapped in certain areas when the doors are suddenly locked again..(THE THORN PIT)

I might understand if the acheivement system considers using the console cheating, and thus doesnt give you achievements.. but... the game itself still does.. and.. teh game still has some glitches that cant be avoided...like the aforementioned AI goofs.

Is there some way to get the game and STEAM to re-sync the acheivements? Im playing on hardcoe the first time through and dont want to get cheated out of the achievement/gift thingie at the end.

They are having problems registering from my own experiences. When you use the console they are disabled for that session but ive had some not register at all like Crafty, Master of the Mojave and the Caravan ones.

Console means no achievements for "that game session", due to achievements being srs business.

I have not looked at my Steam Achivements (as I don't really care) but I see the achievment pop ups in game and I use the Console to enhance gameplay. I might have to check this out tonight.

I've had a few achievements not pop up myself. One I recall is I run barter town which is sell 10000 good's worth of caps. My pipboy says I've sold more than 40000 already.

Using the console stops achievements from registering for that segment. If you use the console, just restart the game and you can get achievements again.

Nice to know, I've only used the console for a companion bug so far, but my clunky fingers hit the ?` often when playing.
Would a save game corruption, ctd or bug of any kind cause an achievement not to register on the first time?

How do I get it to go back and re-register the achievements that it skipped over? Will earning one achievement in a console not used session make it pop up for the rest?

Achievements are tied to the Steam account, so once you've got them they are all the same.

If you realize you missed an achievement, you can oftentimes just go back and load a saved game from just before you should have gotten the achievement and re-complete it. It won't be any different on Steam.

Try going to your "Steam\appcache\stats" folder and moving the "UserGameStats_xxxxxxxx_22380.bin" to another folder.

See if Steam will redetect things. If it doesn't, move it back.

Then there probably isn't a function to scan for achievements that have been completed.

Might be able to make a mod that will do it, but it would take some work.

Same problem here.

I sold 12000 worth and no Steam achievement shows.

I use the console from time to time to turn on 'noclip' so I can 'fly' around and get a good look at places like Hoover Dam.

Do you have to restart Steam as well as restarting (not reloading) the game after using the console?

My finger is always hitting that key by accedent too, but the achievements are only disabled for that session if you actually use a command. From what I read (and in game experience) entering the console and leaving without doing anything doesn't mess achievements up.

It works for me, however it did not register my Level 20 achievement, although I have the 10 and 30 ones. But maybe I used a console command then and forgot to restart the client, not sure.
