A DLC that lets you continue after the end is impossible

I've seen that some people here still think a DLC that lets you continue after the ending will probably be made, or worse, actually want it to be made, despite Obsidian saying they didn't want to.

I don't think people realize just how many endings this game has. http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/912/nvendings.jpg Next to each faction or person I've marked how many endings they have. As you can see, for most factions and followers, there are multiple endings. Can you imagine the time and effort it would take Obsidian to create content for every single one of those endings, even though each player will only see a small fraction of that content? It would be a massive undertaking for little payoff. Obsidian not only doesn't want to do a Broken Steel-esque DLC, they can't, unless such a massive challenge that would ultimately lessen the impact of the endings they've created sounds appealing to them. No, it's not technically "impossible," it's just really really really really unlikely to happen.

Broken Steel was possible because Fallout 3 only really had 1 big difference in it's two general endings, which was that you either put FEV in the water or you didn't. And if you did, in Broken Steel nothings changed except you can't drink much of the water. NPCs can, but you can't or you'll die. Before Broken Steel, the ending made it sound as if there would be a huge amount of people dying from the water, but it was implemented so poorly in Broken Steel that it appeared as if it made no real difference to the world around you. I can't imagine it would turn out any better for New Vegas' endings.

Maybe not any DLC, but a mod to just play sandbox would be nice.

The game by itself is pretty sandbox already......except you can't reverse some of the changes made by quest...

Well I dont like the idea of my open world do what you want game ending. Once again you are kinda focred to do that MQ if you like ot make Role Playing decisions and if your going to push us in that direction you can then punish the player for choosing to do the MQ by taking away the rest of the game.

If they really wanted to a Broken Steel like DLC is very possible, these are a team of game devs not modders, so I dont see why not. Even if you dont see any more then the immediate results, it would be worth it. Plus, what if you want to play the later DLC with your favorite character? Well guess what, you cant do the super important MQ anymore...nope just forget about that important issue of the NCR - LEgion War over the Dam and go off and do other things.......yeah great storytelling there.

I think it would have worked if there wasnt more DLC, but if you're going to add DLC then dont make an open world game with an ending.

But then, they will find a way, anything is possible!

For us PC players its not rearly that much of an issue, as we can get MODS to get around this issue!

Meh, something like Broken Steel would be nice, but if they aren't going to make one then meh. Most older RPGs had definite endings to them, and you always had to save before a point of no return, so I'm used to that.

Though it kind of begs the question, why bother with unique items at the end?

When you link someone to a thread please warn them for spoilers. Fallout 3 was almost ruined for me there. =/
