Just wondering what are some of your thoughts on how a high charisma will affect the factions and your standing with them. Maybe you can rise to the top as head of one?

I never played a charisthmatic character in Fallout 3, so in New Vegas, playthrough 1 is gonna have charisthma of 8 and speechcraft tagged.

(Speechcraft 100%) Umm...Mr. House...Can I have everything you posess?
HOUSE: Well...When you say it like that...

Actually Charisma is about the same as it was in Fallout 3 with the expection of Nerve being introduced. High Charisma probably gives you bonus to Speech, Barter, and certain skill checks.

You know, I often wonder if Charisma and Speech is going to be an "all or nothing" sort of deal in FNV. What I mean is that you won't win any important or even very many Speech challenges unless you specifically build your character to have a high Charisma and maxed out Speech score. If you only give it a moderate investment, like I plan on doing, of say a 5 is Charisma and 50% in Speech, then that's just as bad as not investing any skill points in Speech at all.

......the exception of nerve? Could you clarify?

Also I think charisma has something to do with your options on your companion wheel.

I'am going to make a Andrew Ryan type character, with high charisma and intelligence, so I hope they have made speech more worthwhile this time round.

Thats what i was hoping. it makes no sense for certain SPECIAL attributes to be so imbalanced in retrospect to importance in the game. Perception affects your overall weapon accuracy but charisma only boosts speech and barter and supplies stupid ass perks most ppl won't use? High charisma should let you manipulate situations and [censored] characters to do your dirty work and what have you

I'm not exactly sure what Nerve does but from what I heard its associated with your companions.

It gives a bonus to their damage, DT, and health.

not really sure about nerve but this one might be somewhat useful

Ferocious Loyalty (1 Rank)

Prerequisite: Charisma 6

The power of your personality inspires die-hard loyalty from your followers. When you drop below 50% health, your companions temporarily gain much greater resistance to damage.

While I don't disagree that Charisma/Speech are some of the least usefull skills overall, how is sneak useless?

I spent 85% of my time in Fallout 3 sneaking to scout and strategize where needed. It creates its own unique playstyle that I find more refreshing than running around spraying everything.

Let's not forget about an automatic critical hit from sneak, assistance with theft/pickpocketing, or the pure strategic value of being able to sneak. Also being able to dispatch multiple enemies before any find your location thanks to sneak.

Sneak is not as useful if you prefer run n gun, but certainly does not make it "utterly useless" and this game can be played just as stealthily as it can be hastily.

There seems to be a lot more perks based around charisma and sneak this time around, some of them useful. Personally i'm gonna have a decently high charisma so I can get animal friend.
