Real Time Interfaces

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 9:04 pm

Ok, so we know that dialogues will be in real time but what about when you read books or use any of the various crafting interfaces? Will these also be in real time? It would be nice to pass in game time reading one of the books instead of using the wait button all the time, like say, if I have only an hour before I have to meet someone for a quest. Anyone heard?

I can't recall them mentioning any other interactions being real time, but I'd be surprised if there aren't any. Personally I'd lock to see realtime lockpicking, it'd make stealth much more exciting rather than a case of "exscuse me sir, please can you wait stock still while I pilfer your belongings before you slice my head off with that axe? Ta very much."

totally want this. one of the higher-level stealth perks could slow down time while you're picking locks to mimic MAN I COULD DO THIS IN MY SLEEP.

also this is something i've wanted forever. i don't think it's been confirmed as being in the game, but it would certainly be nice.

ACTUALLY now that i think about it the GI hub update with the tour of the Bethesda offices and the shots of the whiteboard and stuff showed that the player would have an animation playing while crafting things, so maybe stuff like crafting and alchemy and whatnot actually is realtime.

The more things that are in real time, the better.

Love the perk idea, though perhaps you could use the dragon shout that slows down time (or dragon whisper, as has been mentioned stealthy types will be able to do). Also liking the info on crafting animations, that'd really give a much greater sense of the PC being a genuine part of the world and performing tasks naturally within it.

yeah, espeacially if there are lots of crafting in the game. any thing that moves time forward too, I always thought it was wierd that it only took me that only a handful of game days pass by time you finish the MQ or other things.

Real time book reading and potion making would make things so cool. Would feel like you actualy had to manage your time.

Real time lock picking would obviously be awsome...

So long as they dont have real time sleeping :L
