I'm working on some basic ideas / projects / tools to use in Barbada island and other projects I may find interesting.
The first is a building tileset
explanation:
Instead of making an entire building model, then I think of splitting a building up into parts:
- so one part would be the fundament (I could make 3 of these)
- one part would be the house form and texture (3 of these again or maybe 9 (3x3 : 3 forms 3 classes)
- One part would be windows
- one part would be doors
- one part accesories and so on
That way I could make an entire city with that tileset without having every building looking like all the others
Of course I would still need special buildings and so on but I think its a good idea what do you think=?
The other tool is a quest plot making tool
Explanation:
I have written a document which contains following parts:
Conflict(S) Outer Innercharacters and objects Giver(S) Target(S) Helper(S) Antagonist(S)¨ Reward(S)Motivation(S) Giver(S) Helper(S) Antagonist(S)¨
Under each part I have written a whole bunch of opportunities.
That way I (or if a release this separately) can way better make generic interesting quests with all aspects of a basic good story.
Of course a person who would use this tool would still have to use his or hers imagination, lore, background story and quest writing skills to make a good quest, but it is actually a very smart way to create quest plot lines
