So im trying to get enough history points with Boone to start his quest, and i did a bunch of stuff and i wasn't quite there yet, so i raided cottonwood, did everything in there and still not enough, so i said to my self "its bout time i take this fight to them". The person that was in the same room as me thought i was going insane. I turned the difficulty up, gave boone a nice AM rifle, i got my trusty M1 grand (its The Machine, M1 grand just sounds cooler to me) and went off to the little boat to take me to the fort. Boone makes the comment that this boat will be the last one we ever take. I take a deep breath, chug a monster and board the boat. We immediately begin the fight upon entering the fort. I quickly enter vats head shoting the gate guard while boone dispatches the remaining two with lightening speed. We make our way up the hill makin legionnaires fall like skittles from a rainbow. I enter the main area and to almost crapped my pants to the amount of legionaries there were. Boone goes right ahead and starts unloading his AM rifle, which it was then i realized he was a terrible shot with the thing. I quickly retreat back to a choke point to funnel the legionaries and i start picking them off. Boone decides to be a hero and just runs at them with a sniper rifle. He eventually breaks the weapon and throws the thing on the ground (which makes me mad since i bought it for 7k) and pulls out his machete and starts slashing people up. After about 10 mins of fighting there is a soothing silent in the fort. Not a soul to be heard. I step over the mangled bodies of the fallen to collect my loot. I look up at Ceasers tent....a smirk arises on my face. This of course makes my roommate even more worried. As i approach his tent i can feel my heart racing. I say to myself " I am ready" and i enter the tent. I immediately see that i am outmatched and i pull out a Holy Hand grenade with lighting reflexes and chuck it at ceaser and run back as far as i can. A light fills cearsers tent, and once it disperses i see the corpses of him and his guards. I see a sole survivor limping towards me...."A pathetic waste of life" i say to myself and head shot him. I loot ceaser and talk to boone who makes some satisfying comments about our accomplishment. I try to start his quest once more....and i still doesn't pop up yet, FML.

mines sumwhat similart o yours, i already did boones sidequest and upgraded him so i was just going to the legion hq just for kicks. i got in did the same as you and after everyone in the main area was lifeless i barged my way in and quickly realized i wouldnt survive in there so i darted out of the tent and started winnowing their numbers in the main area, the only person left was ceasar so i decided to give him some western justice and whipped out my ranger sequoia and blasted his head clean off. when all was over me and boone pvssyd about how it wouldnt change anythingand we continued on our quest lol

I didn't even know he had another quest till I talked to him about Bitter Springs and he said he wanted to go back there... Man the story about his wife has gotta be the saddest thing I've ever heard.. Kinda reminds me of Jack from 24.. Actually, Boones a beast like him so maybe it is.. o_O

Since I'm not really big on the NCR, I remember having a lot of trouble trying to get him to spill the uh, story of his life. I mean, I'm irritating by every standard; it's just required of me to be an annoying gossip.
I kept prodding him about his dead wife and Bitter Springs while he was always like, "STOP BUGGING ME >:'(".
...I know, I know. I'd hate traveling with me, too.
