The only thing that would come between me and Skyrim is Stea

The Elder Scrolls is my favorite IP in the universe. (I'm a raging fan boy)

What Bethesda has shown in a small amount of time from the announcement is awesome.

So Todd, you could make the main storyline be about collecting 70 pink bunnies from Dragons to make a fortress of fluffy toys to stop an antagonist roughly consisting of vegetables, and I would still buy it. But, like I said there is something that would keep me away, and that is Steam. While I appreciate the need for developers (mostly publishers) to DRM their games requiring a one-time activation of the game, Steam is a deal breaker, because a blob file in the Steam client forces login every week to check for updates even if you have been in offline mode for days. I'm personally in an "unsafe" financial situation, and Steam DRM would mean that some day the access to my legally purchased 100% my own, --->SINGLE PLAYER GAME<---- would be cut off for me.

I can't support theft, and Steam is theft.

In the event of Skyrim being Steam, I would have few options but to not buy the game. Eventually I would probably kill myself.

I can't live without Skyrim

Why would it be 'cut off'?

Steam, even when set to offline mode, will eventually not function without you logging in. This is a hard coded day of the week, where Valve has decided it is good to look for upgrades.

This means that a single player game will eventually become inaccessible without an internet connection, something a lot of people do not always have.

People complaining about this in the past have failed to be able to pinpoint exactly why they're having problems, causing the problem to be hushed down a lot.

Edit: Civilization 5 is the best example of baclash due to this problem. WRONG demographic to mess with. Thousands of people bought the box on wanton, and realized later they couldn't play, causing huge amounts of people to black list Firaxis/ 2K and thousands of others to spread pirated products (Steam is no safeguard from piracy)
