I hated how in Oblivion, when you ran diagonally, it was like you were running forward but at an angle, like you were just magically "gliding" sidways lol. Looked so stupid. I really hope they change that.
They have worked significantly on Third-person, that's all we know.
I'm hoping for auto-turning, auto-camera turning for third-person.
I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about, but if you're talking about how it is in a lot of third person games I prefer the current system. Maybe it's because I play with a mouse, but I don't want the 3rd person camera to have a mind of its own.
It has been discussed, and judging from the hunter in the trailer, the one we see walking through the woods and stalking a deer, he appears to have his own animation for sneaking diagonally. I'd say we're good to go.
Didn't anyone read the article about Skyrim's new animation system? They're reworking the whole thing and dedicated a new technology solely to improving animations. The game's definitely going to have diagonal movement animations.
I just played Oblivion and yes, the diagonal animations are non-existant. I checked the trailer and it looks like they added diagonal movement. The fall forest scene.
