Where did all the Silt Striders go?

They will be in Skyrim i think.

When an underground based city is discovered by Stryder mounted Dunmer archers and attacked, the Striders will walk in and destroy the Magical shield generator. The Nords will send an army of guar-riding warriors with grappling hooks to tie their legs together and make them fall to the snow. one brave Nord warrior will use his grappling hook to climb up to the soft underbelly, slash it open and toss in a fire glyph spell, and cut the rope to fall to the ground as the stryder gets blown up and falls sideways to the snow.

A gruff Nord smuggler and a feisty breton princess will also have a romantic kiss in the south corridor. and make a getaway before Fyr walks in to a trumpet anthem.

it'll be epic.

Now I know why the striders always reminded me of at-at's. It all makes sense now.

Anyway, I just had an idea. A zoo mod. Importated animals from other providences.

Morrowind had a lot of great creatures and Silt Striders were probably at the top of that list - but I believe they're unique fauna of Morrowind, possibly even Vvardenfell, and I think they'd be out of place in Skyrim.

Silt striders are one of my fav creatures in any fantasy, its like something taken out of a mysterious book or movie you see as a child and dont quite understand. (wizards anyone?)

Anyway, I hope mammoths become the 'new' Silt Striders. I miss them too.

A very good idea - there could actually be a quest dealing with getting some sort of blood / spit / egg / whatever from sapecific rare beasts that would allow your quest giver to make some uniqeu horror-show-venom. For a more 'chaotic' approach, you could just set those beasts free and a script could allow their numbers (some of them) to grow overtime, some being docile, others being fierce, etc...

I hope Skyrim will bring back some of the unique creatures MW had, I knew each and every creature from OB in other fantasy games and stories. Morrowind introduced creatures that gave me the feeling of "WTF" but still it made the world feel much more unique.


Well the problem with that is most of the creatures in Morrowind were mutated animals from the blight, that's why they were so outlandish and the ones that were not mutated, they are dead now. Gotta love erupting volcanoes. You will probably see Cliffracers in Skyrim as they are native to Skyrim. They have put in carriages for those that don't like fast travel in Skyrim though, that's close to Siltstriders :biggrin:

As for you knowing each and every creature from OB in other fantasy games and stories....There were land dreughs, spriggans, clannfear, scamps, spider daedra, Xivilai, flame atronach, storm atronach, frost atronach, Udyrfrykt, Flesh Atronach, Daedroth and so forth in other fantasy games and stories? There were MANY creatures that were unique to the TES mythos in Oblivion and the ones that are familiar, why is that so bad? I mean, wolves, mountain lions, ogres, goblins and so on are fine. I've never had a problem with normal creatures and a familiar looking land in a game, it doesn't make it bad because it's not alien.
