Is Elsweyr and Natural Environments Comatible?

Post » Thu Dec 09, 2010 1:56 pm

I noticed in the Elsweyr read me to look for a patch in case it's not compatible with Natural Environments. Does anyone know if NE will cause a weather problem in Elsweyr? i,e,. snow in the desert, etc. And if so, maybe a patch is available? Thanks in advance.

You should not be using Natural Environments (except for the NaturalHabitat esp). There are / were many problems reported with versions prior to 2.1.4 (which I beleive was a "fix").
You're much better off using All Natural with is compatible with Elsweyr.

Indeed. And, if you really like Natural Weather (and prefer it to all other weather mods) you can select only that in All Natural's ini, giving you in effect Natural Weather++. :)

Enhanced Vegetation is the other thing to look at, rather than the Natural version.

Oh, and I recommend Enhanced Water HDMI for, well, water. Much nicer, IMO. But there are plenty of alternatives*, and Natural Water doesn't have issues, IIRC, if you simply want that one.

* Like Phinix Waterfix, Better Water, Improved Water...

Hm. Well then since two people have already requested I get All Natural and it's compatible with Elsweyr, then perhaps I should remove Natural Environments and switch. Is All Natural compatible with Storms & Sound? I'm really enjoying the lightning effects from that one and it would be a bummer if I had to lose it.

I'm pretty sure S&S is compatible, because I seem to remember using it at some stage, and I've been using All Natural for ages now.

By the way, as aellis said, you can certainly use Natural Habitats in combination with, well, just about anything (AN included). I do! :D

With default settings, All Natural combines the weather from Natural Weather, Enhanced Weather (another good mod in its own right, btw) and Atmospheric Weather System (I think...) - but you can choose any one, or any combo of two, if preferred. There are a number of other interesting ini settings to play with too, like replicating "Darker Nights" or whatever that mod was called, or setting your own tweaks for how dark nights are, and whether they have the default Oblivion blue tint. And so on.

Oh, and a number of spectacular mods exist that depend on AN. Immersive Interiors, for example.

Yes, I was looking at Immersive Interiors and wishing I could use it. I'm going to re-adjust my weather system right now. By the way, when uninstallation instructions (Natural Environments in this case) tell me to uncheck something, rather than have that .esp clutter up my Oblivion folder and show up on BOSS, is it safe to just delete the .esp with Wrye Bash?

Edit: After installing the All Natural weather mod including Real LIghts and Immersive Interiors (which adjusts the lighting), I notice that my interiors seem very bright. I'm not sure if this is supposed to happen. Perhaps it's just for the simple fact that it's daylight outside and it adds to the existing interior lights?
