Forge system could explain glass/elven sword debocle

Post » Sat Dec 11, 2010 7:54 am

It's an elven sword in that pic.

1: Its weird styling on the tip fits in with the feathery bird motif of the elven set,

2: The guy is wearing elven armor. They'd want to display a fully matching set for a promo pic.

But it looks green? Vaguely. Can easily be explained away by an imagespace modifier or lighting setup altering coloration.

Glass weapons in Morrowind and Oblivion were very conspicuously GREEN. They also looked less like metal blades and more like shaped shards/lumps of glass.

You must have missed my thread, huh?

Here you go: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1177758-new-armor-design/#entry17415954

Edit: Btw, it's ironic that you also did the green letter thing, and yet you seem to disagree, lol

First off everything is pure speculation. That being said I also think it is unrealistic to expect the forging system to allow us to make custom made weapons/armor. The sword in question I believe is elven because it matches the oblivion elven longsword in shape.

Idk, look at http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_4lrm97dBqNo/TUFlwb82vlI/AAAAAAAAAYs/J3KOH-Y0YDM/s1600/artofskyrim_008_elvenfemhalberd.jpg (esp. knees and elbows), http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_4lrm97dBqNo/TTBUbM33FKI/AAAAAAAAAX0/-SE1Q1VIF0Q/s1600/skyrim_018.jpg, and http://voidedchaos.net/glasssword.jpg. All the green parts have that leafy, "serrated" look, which I haven't seen on the elven armor or what appears to be the http://download2.zenimax.com/akqacms/files/tes/screenshots/WolvesHealMace_wLegal.jpg at all. Unless that concept art is supposed to show a radically different version of the elven armor from what we've seen, I just don't think the sword best matches the elven set. But who knows. I agree it seems odd to show elven armor with glass weapons, when most of Oblivion's screenshots showed full sets. I just don't think the blade on that sword looks metal at all, and it's hard to tell but it almost looks translucent to me.

Who cares?

Glass, Elven, as long as it is nifty looking and protects you I don't care what it is.

I may just be a reflection on the sword from http://theletter.co.uk/images/lc/Aurora_Borealis.jpg.

Huh, you know, that would be awesome to see in Skyrim. I mean, with how they made the night sky look in Oblivion, and especially in The Shivering Isles, this would be easy to add.

Of course, it would be best if the efffect actually moved and changed. Again, not too difficult.

Off-topic here, but I actually would love seeing that while exploring the dark icy shores of northern Skyrim.
