Gilded Weapons?

Post » Tue Dec 14, 2010 3:50 am

I'm an aesthetics oriented guy to be blunt. I mean I played with fur armor until the end because I thought it looked epic with certain other gear, so it makes sense that I would want an option to gild my armor: When I wear pieces of armor from different sets I want them to match.

So, to fit the fantasy aspect of this, I figure you could pay blacksmiths to gild your armor with different metals. Granted, it adds little to no game play aspect to the game but I feel like it would take even less programing and disc space to add that function. To make it more fun, I suppose, the little pieces of raw gold and silver could be incorporated as necessary items to gild armor.

Also, for clothing, dying the cloth would be pretty nifty as well. Not nearly as important to me though.

So, thoughts? It's four in the morning so I'm bound to have missed something so feel free to fill in what I've omitted.

Cheers.

Ack, new to the forums, used the search button, thoughts have already been noted on this. Also, topic title is wrong, supposed to be "Armor", not "Weapons". Though, in hindsight, I'd like to guild my weapons as well. Anywho, feel free to close the thread, apologies for the repetition.

Agreed, awesome idea. Since the game is pretty much done, I don't think it'll make it into the game.

By the way. Here! have a fishy stick! Whoops, forgot link.

Gameplay = how the game plays to you. I think gilded weapons would be a solid gameplay aspect. But I can see your point, it's more an aesthetic thing than practical, although Silvered weapons could be an idea, instead of having separate silver weapons. That'd create a lot of flexibility in the gameplay (the thought being that Silver is needed to damage certain enemies).

i think thats a awesome idea, but the silver should only be used in intricate detail, and their should still be silver armour, silver with gold detail would be awesome.

Not sure if this kind of decoration in armors would fit very well with the nord background, but on the other hand a little contrast doesn't make any damage.
