Stalhrim?

Stalhrim etymology is interesting. It's likely based on the norwegian words St?l (english "steel") and Rim (english "hoarfrost"), which essentially translates to "steel ice" or "ice as hard as steel".

It is not meteoric in any sense. It's a sort of magic ice.

I'm not sure, the speed at which I slashed through those 10 rieklings in Bloodmoon felt pretty meteoric to me

That is very interesting, thanks.

From what I remember, and delving into my TES lore caches, Stalhrim isn't technically "ice" in any sense.

Should there some kind of form of Stalhrim in the game. Seeing as the Nords used it to make tombs for themselves, maybe there should be royal mausoleums with tombs and statues of Stalhrim. A few Nords could also forge weapons with it too.

Thoughts?

Edit: Should it also be possible to find the tombs of ancient Nordic Royalty? Some might be outside of cities, after all, there could be barrows or mounds/ cairns of Stalhrim, right?

We don't know what it is.
It's referred to as "ice" in conversation, probably just because of its appearance and function. There are scant knowledgeable lore references to it.

Uh, yeah. Because I definitely said something about someone being ignorant, right? I definitely insinuated that anyone who hasn't played Morrowind is an idiot, right?
Oh, wait. Whadd'ya know. I actually said nothing that remotely resembled those sentiments.

I wonder if the Daggerfall players said the same about "Morrowind babes" and the Arena players called Daggerfall players as upstarts... either way, what you wrote was utterly ridiculous.

I did the Stalhrim quest just a few weeks ago and if i remember correctly it was unique to solstheim. They said it was used on warriors who's bodies could not be sent to the mainland for a proper burial.

Thanks; that's what I thought but I wasn't sure.

Obviously, yes. It's part of the ancient Nord culture, if it wasn't in Skyrim at all then that would just be odd. Unless there was an explanation, of course.

A possible explanation would be: "because the developers ran out of time to implement it; they took too much time implementing quests involving prosttutes" :whistling:

Can't tell if you're being serious or not.

The amount of people that didn't play Morrowind astounds me. :facepalm. Oblivion-babes. Sheesh.
Stalhrim is a very very hard substance that encases nordic bodies in tombs. Requires a certain tool to chip it off, and it can make very good armor. Well, it did in Bloodmoon.

Anyway, I'm not certain but it could be native to Solstheim. I have nothing to back that up though, as I could be wrong. I just don't remember hearing anywhere or mention of it being from Skyrim. Just that it was Nordic.

Please, tell me what is "utterly ridiculous" about that statement..? The fact that I'm surprised that so few people on these boards didn't play Morrowind?
That sentiment is "utterly ridiculous"? I see. Nice logic Spock.
