Beggars in Skyrim

Post » Sat Dec 25, 2010 9:03 am

I don't recall seeing beggars in any of the screenshots that have come out so far...Do you think they'll be similar to beggars in Oblivion? In OB, they always walked around with bare feet and slept on a bedroll out in the open, but I would think that could be quite hazardous in the snowy mountains of Skyrim. Do you think they'll at least have shelters to sleep in?

Thats because there were like four voice actors for each race (if that) and the voice actors for the beggars didnt record any rumors (I believe...)

Everyone loves the poor people. I hope that in skyrim there will be pickpockets around who steal your items/gold (which for example you could get back if you're fast enough to react).

Yeah, something about them standing around all day with blank looks on their faces was rather creepy...but I still loved them :hugs: I think it would be cool if they had a homeless shelter or two in Skyrim...and instead of giving coins to beggars, we could donate to the shelters. Or better yet, give us a chance to be beggars ourselves! At least in the beginning, when we're fresh out of prison with nothing to our names.

You can be a beggar in oblivion too, just stay in the clothes you had from the start of the game and sit in town doing anything than walking around stealing booze and sleeping other beggar's bedrolls for hundreds of hours.

No..it's because they were faking the poor man accent and forgot themselves, slipping into how they REALLY talk. Duuuuuuuh! :frog:

The worst were in the Thieves guild questline, when you had to talk to beggars, and they would randomly shift from the normal voice to the accented voice depending on what you asked them. It was....jarring, to say the least.

If the beggars actually bought shoes instead of nagging you for money, it would be great. I picked a beggars pocket, i found like 1500 gold on him, he could live a good life if he wanted to.

Now that reminds me of the guy who washes windscreens at the lights near my work. Methinks he's paid better than I.

I love beggars in OB....i hunt them. If I see one I always find his bed, wait for him to sleep in it and then shoot an arrow in his head. I created a class called Beggar Hunter.

Yes, and I want to be able to hire them for work, in return for food.

Four for each race is being very generous. Most voice actors played multiple races, like Khajiits and Argonians had one male voice actor and one female, same with the Elves, all shared one voice actor per gender. I think there were 10 different voice actors/actresses in total for the races (not including the special voices like Martin, Uriel, Haskill, etc.)

I don't think sharp reflexes would count, with me. If I caught a beggar pick pocketing me, I'd take a hammer (Or a potato, whichever is closest to hand.) to his face.
