3DS Max Woes

Forgive me if this is an improper forum for this. I figured the Construction Set forum was too relevant to the Construction Set and Issues would be related to gameplay, so I tried here.

Hey everyone. I managed to get my hands on a copy of 3DS Max 2010 from school, and I'm attempting to get .nif files functioning with it so I may edit Oblivion models. I downloaded the plugin and extracted it to the proper directory, but it gives me an error message about it at startup.

I think the plugin may be outdated. I downloaded the latest version from http://sourceforge.net/projects/niftools/files/max_plugins/, and there were no later updates. I tried to google it, but came up with no results. I figured other Elder Scrolls modders of all people would be able to help me out with this. Are you sure you're using the 2010 version of the plugin? I believe the plugins on that page are only valid to #8. http://niftools.sourceforge.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=2205, iirc its the one I use (without any major problems).

Thank you Lady N.

While that previous error is now gone, I now have a new one that still prevents me from using NIF files. This one reads:

It is worth noting that I'm using the 64bit version of my install. I have 32bit as well, I suppose that may be a factor in this case. I'll give that a try and see how it goes.

Edit: Indeed, it seems to be that the plugin simply isn't compatible with 64bit versions. When I booted it in 32bit, there were no error messages, and I was able to open up a nice bridge model very easily.

Now, the next step is to get good at this...
