I'm all for this, the resources for the body and armor are already in place, it's a matter of adjusting camera angle and animations (which would be the only difficult thing to do).

It has been confirmed that when staggered the camera will shake.

Umm no... You look down.

LOL

nice one and yes I want to see my legs too, I don't want to be a floating sphere holding a sword

give us an actual body, that is phi scaly there and that does not stir like we are a mars rover, humans move fluidly and need time to change direction.

When I click "R" and go into 3rd person mode, or when I pull up the equipment menu, I see my character's whole body. And when I go back to 1st person? I still know that my character has a whole body, I don't suddenly think that I'm a camera and two forearms. Even though I can't turn and stare at my shoulder like in Arma II.

So I have a bit of a hard time understanding that complaint, really. Sorry. :sadvaultboy:

If it's just added a "random" feature that basically has the same animation no matter what surface I move in, it could be left out. But if you look down right now when reading this.... .... you can see your own chest too and shoulders. If you now stand up and look behind you and down you'll see most of you back and you @55. So just adding a floating camera with legs that move randomly will not be good enough for me to want it that much.

I think it wouldn't be different for how it is in third person, except now you can see the rest of your body. It would need to have a free look ability if you could look around without turning your whole self, and if there is a free look ability I would also want to be able to tilt like in the Thief games. I would want tilting even without free looking. It's useful but might be too much to control without a keyboard.

I'm not sure about you, but I'm not an owl, I can't see much of my back. Just sayin.

I actually want to play the game in 3rd person as much as possible, but I agree that seeing your legs (and possibly a sheathed weapon on your hip!) should defiantly be there

Really? Every person can do it, you'll have to ebnd your body too and tilt a bit backwards, I said that you should see *most* of you back, I know it's impossible to see it all. Not saying you are so much bigger than anyone else to not be able to do so, but the Skyrim characters (most of them?) would be able to turn around like that and watch their back.

Foating legs with a camera is only a small bit better imo than an all floating camera.

@ Nightblade_Y: Yeah that could work on consoles too, in third person in both OB and Fo3 you could hold the same button and look around your character. It could work in 1st person too, being able to hold the button there and look around yourself.

I'd like khajiit to not have stupid pudgy human feet and hands, even if I don't see them in first person. Come on, really, I want giant paws for clawing peoples faces off.

Well Daggerfall has kick animation in Hand to Hand combat

But I doubt even such variations will be added to first person view,
I think devs will improve third person camera view instead of creating first person viewable body.
But there is can be camera shake while running and bow sway in first person.

I am rather optimistic about this. they will inevitebly move the camera due to the new combat system. adding legs in first person isn't very hard... its just a bit of a puzzle.

Knowing and seeing it are two different things. If this game wants to further go into the 'show not tell' direction of RPG (since abandoning dice throws after Morrowind, that stuff) it would only fit if the first person model had an actual body.
It's also a alight issue since we now have dynamic lighting. You'd never have a shadow, or only your arms would.

Thief: Deadly Shadows does first person well. When you look down and about you can see your arms, shoulders, body, and legs. I don't see why Skyrim wouldn't have at least the legs, let alone a complete model.

I'm all for this idea if we can see our chest too. Then we can see.............uhh.................stuff!

I mean what, are our heads glued to our bellies? When I look down I can see all the way up to my shoulders!

This whole idea of "Everything is harder in an open world game" is getting sort of silly, now. It's exactly as hard as in every other game, just like most things.

Things that would be multiplied by the size of the world are harder. But legs don't fall into this category.

i want to see my legs when i look down.

i also think it would be better if the camera moved around realisticaly when you get hit

Mirror's edge did it awesome. Halo reach did it awesome.

Seing as skyrim is going to be 10x better than both of them combined, then why won't you be able to see your legs?

because they would have to model every pant graves shoes and Boots,, for the first person view.

Because, personally (and yeah, I know this counts for just me, not everyone else), I honestly don't see what the big deal is.

Sure, in Mirror's Edge, it's important, since it's basically a full-body gymnastics game. Not being able to see the body would cripple the central gameplay.

But I watch that one Arma II video that someone linked, and the guy turns his head and can see his shoulder, and all I can think is..... So? What purpose did that serve, at all? (Or is there actually some gameplay reason for it? Can you get shot in locations and have to apply bandages to the right spot?)

Like,Immersion purposes?
I for one really like first person view and if this was done correctl i would play most of the game in first person, its a simple thing that adds SOOOO much to immersion.

There's no reason not to use the same models you'd see in third-person view: they're already there. Sometimes it's better to have more detailed textures for really close-up stuff, but I'd imagine legs and feet (and shoes, trousers etc) will work okay with the standard ones.

And that may be part of my problem. I always know I'm playing a game, and am perfectly fine with that... because that was my goal when I sat down to do it. So all this "I want to forget I'm playing a game" stuff just kind of confuses me.

I agree. I don't understand how one forgets they are ever playing a game. I would like the legs of my character to be present, anyway, but not for immersion purposes. I just think it would be a nice touch, but nothing major.

There's a difference between knowing you're playing a game, and having the game slap you in the face. Looking down and seeing the ground immediately below you, as well as your sword still being directly in front of your face, is one of those slaps. People just can't bend like that.

The same reason I don't want achievements for every little action, combo multipliers to bounce across the screen, or whatever. You can have immersion without forgetting you're playing a game - but immersion is difficult if whenever you look down you see nothing at all.
