Restoration...

Post » Fri Jan 07, 2011 10:13 am

Now that we know you can duel wield destruction spells, could you duel wield restoration spells? i think that would be a little unbalanced if you could just equip 2 restoration spells and then heal yourself super fast and continue fighting.
but on the positive side if you could, i dont see why you wouldnt be able to except for the above, it'd be cool for those stupid escort missions to be able to have a heal other spell in one hand and a self heal in the other. i always remember trying to not let the one soldier in the oblivion gate not die but i would need to heal myself, and while doing that he would die and i would rage. your thoughts?

If you dual wield (ed) restoration spells, you wouldnt have a weapon/ destruction spell/ something that deals damage/ etc... in one of the slots...

better balance would be one slot with destruction spell or weapon and other slot with restoration spell and just alter using them as needed LOL

Yeah, but what would be the point of dual wielding a restoration spell in the bloody first place? If you have hot keys, just restore yourself, use a hotkey, use a restore other spell, then go on you merry bloody way...

but then your heals wouldnt be as strong, so you could just use those then switch to a weapon or destruction for maximum damage and heals, which seems unbalanced to me LOL

well yeah thats what you could do before but it takes longer than casting them both at the same time or immediately one after the other

Yes, you could heal yourself back to full health, and you would probably lose all your magicka doing so...

I don't think this would be any more unbalanced than in the previous games. If you have a spell that heals 40 HP, you could just make one that heals 80 and cast that in the same amount of time. Now instead you could put 40 heal in both hands. That's assuming you could put the same spell in both hands and have them stack; if you can't do that then you'd need to put a weaker heal in your other hand and you'd lose some efficiency that way. I usually ended up being limited by the speed of magic regeneration more than the speed of casting the spell.

This falls into the same category as dual-wielding shields. :)

@OP- Haha, I would just create spells in OBV to do AOE HOTs. Considering character in particular was my self-designed "Paladin", I named it "Radiance" and, unless I am remembering incorrectly, the HOT effect immensely lowered the magicka usage requirement. Though, also, the Paladin had simply enough magicka for that one spell, so it wasn't as if it was exactly cheap. I couldn't tell you the specifics as to the values and etc, but at any rate!

yeah i guess its not more overpowered than before. plus making them heal over time made them heal a lot more for less, and right now we cant do that with no custom spells, unless we find them and buy them.

If we can't do two shields, we could do shield+heal. Perfect defense!

yeah i actually mentioned that in the above post right after you. you ninja
but i never really thought about actually making it AOE because it cost so much magicka but i guess that would work just as well and cost close to the same as casting 2 HOTs
