Anybody knows what has happened with Elsweyr: Anequina?

Post » Sat Jan 08, 2011 7:10 pm

Trying to upload it to Nexus without explicit permission is opening a ginormous can of worms, so it's best just not to go there. Probably best not to go there at all at any other site either.

True. But again the question remains of how to contact the mods author?

Megaupload wasn't a problem when she uploaded the mod there, it's only been more recently that they've caved into malware distributors and started passing viruses along for the ride. I've personally complained about it and only ever gotten back the usual canned response from their mail system thanking me for contacting them blah blah blah. I suspect they just don't care.

Sorry to hear about that. It's really a shame they didn't care if that was their intentions.

There lies our problem. Since no-one knows any quick way to get contact with her, perhaps we're just best getting someone with, um, a decent reputation to PM her on behalf of the community. Still, if she's not visiting the forums anymore though...

TES4 is an old game and even if many people still play and enyoy it because of the many amazing avaible mods interest is going back in general...have a look at the dl and ratings from Fallout NV...simple mods have got more dls and more ratings in a few weeks than many many fantastic mods had here over the last 2 years....
it absolutely makes no sense to upload such a file like Elsweyr Anequina to any small private hompage or any site like megaaupload or filefront etc etc...it has to be on one of the popular sites...
I personally never had any problems on Nexus..and with ratings and comments disabled and having it linked to a support thread here on beth forums it should be fine...

however I agree ...without getting Ilianas permission the who?le discussion is pointless...

It's now *unhidden* on http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=25023 and available to download. :)

It's hidden again. I hope that it's because of update, not because of some other reasons.

Every time it hits the Top 100, she hides it until it slips off the list again - she says she it draws too much attention and it gets a lot more people asking dumb questions.

Yes, sure - but there are also more and more of us who are fascinated by the project and go there from time to time and reply to dumb questions.
Besides, couldn't it be arranged with the administrators that the file gets removed from that list? Although I think that it deserves to be there and near top.

There were all manner of n00bs who can't install mods blaming her for their problems and saying the mod wasn't good enough for them as well.

Maybe she should remove comments on the Tesnexus page and start up a thread on here for people who want to make suggestions, but not link it over from the Tesnexus, so no-one who's going to pester her about self inflicted installation woes will head over there.

No.

There are many reasons why, but it's pointless to discuss what is Iliana's decision. I just wanted to point out that the file is hidden again.

I can't beleive that! She did it again! (Almost sounds like a Britney Spears song lyric!!)

You know everytime Iliana hides her Elsweyr Deserts of Anequina mod it effects the Rimmen mod's developement (as far as getting new team members who may not have Iliana's Elsweyr DoA mod ATM) as well? It also could effect those who are developing or helping to develope other providence mods who has to use Onra's SOTD Heightmaps, which btw requires Iliana's Elsweyr DOA to work properly (as far as I know!)

And let's face it, there's only 1 other Elsweyr mod out there called Elsweyr Confederacy, and those who have played that one knows how it goes! (go thru some doorway/portal/stargate or type in some "coc placename" in the console and you're instantly in Elsweyr)

This of course is why those of you who already downloaded it should be keeping it in a backup folder somewhere, just in case.

I'm sure she has her reasons for doing it, but I can't say I understand the rationale for it if it has nothing to do with comments.

I looked at the Megaupload link for her mod a few pages back (albeit for version 2 only and it's July 2010 updates) and there was nothing on the link, which shows me that the mod has been taken down from Megauploads as well!

Calm down Duke. While I don't know her reasons, Iliana is a nice person (based on my experience) and I doubt that she would leave all other project to hang baseless.
While I don't understand that hiding, I'm sure she has her reasons, perhaps she will make an update or something when the time lets her.

Argh, it's frustrating when Modders let negative feedback get to them. Especially in this case, I did a fresh install and went to re-download this mod and I can't find it anywhere. I thought the mod was fantastic and I'm very upset that it is unavailable.

Unfortunately, MegaUpload is no longer a trusted source:

Not a very good idea to download from them anymore.

I thought that was just their toolbar?

It cannot download anything without me knowing about it otherwise...

That's I always I do before a mod installation. :whistling:

I think I understand the http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1157792-how-do-you-decided-where-to-host-your-mods/page__view__findpost__p__16970722 why Illiana has hidden that mod now and then on Nexus. Because of that I don't blame Illiana for it in fact I agree with her. :)

That's much more reasonable the the previous answers.

It is really a great mod and I can see a lot of hard work has gone into it. I don't spend that much time in Elsweyr in-game, but it's nice to know I can cross that border and that no invisible wall will stop me. Some of the new models are fantastic and everything just fits. I've had some problems with the dust storm weather getting "stuck," but I believe another mod is causing that, all I have to do is make a transition between exterior-interior and everything is ok again.

Great work.
