Discussion of Skyrim Screenshot

Here is an image of some sort of terrain that is reported by someone named SP Rockzo on the Steam forums to be from the game Skyrim

Is this real? If so, what do you think it suggests about the graphics engine? If it is real, it looks great IMO.

I haven't heard anything of this image from any other source so far, so I'm still a bit skeptical. Here is the original post on the Steam forum:

That's not real.

It has been touted as an image from quite a few games and features on a number of forums and YouTube videos as the 'first' screenshot from a lot of games.

It's a fake. Whoever posted that in the steam forum was trolling them.

Doesn't even look like it can be produced by modern game engines.

Thanks for confirming, Shady. It was the first time I ever heard of it.

Very annoying that someone would go through the trouble to make it.

It's just a photograph with a bloom effect - I'd hardly call that "trouble".

We should have a "THIS IS NOT A REAL SCREENSHOT!" sticky thread.

It's not that far out of the reach of modern game engines to be fair - but seeing how nice the landscape geometry in that picture would be if it was an actual game, I wouldn't buy the game on principle simply for the audacity to make near-realistic terrain look like an overbloomed, oversaturated mess :P It looks horrible, I don't get it why people keep saying it's 'nice'.

Ha, people should really go back a few page. There was a topic that said the exact same thing today.
Fake.

Repeated topic but it still doesn't make it real. :)
