What will the Dunmer at the begining be like?

Post » Tue Jan 11, 2011 6:58 am

In Morrowind and Oblivion, after selecting New Game, you're always greeted by a Dunmer that you see once and never see again*. I wonder what the Skyrim version will be like. Rude and insulting like Valen, or calm and helpful like Jiub? Or be different from the two previous ones?

Spoiler
Before you mention the Dark Brotherhood quest for Valen, I know about it.

I don't know about Morrowind but in Oblivion you see Dreth more than once. You get a quest from the Dark Brotherhood to kill him. It is satisfying because he is so mean to you.

I haven't really thought about it. Seemed only a coincidence that a Dunmer is the first NPC you see, so I don't really expect to see one in Skyrim. If you've seen the "Prisoner" concept art, that's the guy I'm expecting to see first.

In a general sense though, I'd hope the Dunmer have learned from what happened with Morrowind and have started becoming less...as they were. :P

Wailing in sorrow at the thought of having his head chopped off in a few minutes.

Probably some Dunmer getting ready to escape, or maybe the race changes every new game you play with different dialog :D

But I really want to see what the Dunmer says if Im an Argonian

Valen Dreth died a painful death for what he said to me.
I. Don't. Eat. Rats.

On topic: Hopefully we'll get a nice first dude, ala Jiub.

Even though Valen Dreth was a butt-head I found his comments interesting to listen too. I even fooled around with the gender and other choices to see what he had to say. Don't get me wrong I wanted to punch him but still it was interesting. I feel a little guilty when I killed him in the Dark Brotherhood quest but not that guilty.

I'm saying he's a guard.

*Skyrim Spoiler!*
At the start of Skyrim, you're about to get executed - I'm guessing it's the guy who takes you to the post.

If this took place in Morrowind, perhaps. The guard's probably going to be a Nord.

I say he's going to be a frightened prisoner, he probably gets executed off-screen. You can hear the *chop.*

Probably. And before yo hear the *chop*, you hear him mutter to himself "Ah well, at least now I can be sure that the Dark Brotherhood or the daedra from Oblivion aren't going to get me..."

I hope for a lud mouth prisoner who is right behind you saying annoying and mean things. Just as Esebern is saving you somehow he calls for your help, but you can then at that time give him your 2 cents with funny dialogue. Then while you get away you hear his cries of his last breath.

This? Ya I would bet on that guy also. Seems like a nice example of the Nordic race..
I don't think a Dunmer will be the first one to greet you, but I hope they play an interesting role in the game. I would be disappointed if they didn't talk about their plight in this game, because I for one was alittle devastated when I learned about Morrowind's fate :(

I don't think Max Von Sydow is going to be a dunmer. Maybe the executioner?

Fond memories stabbbing Dreth to death...
Anyways, hope the new guy has some unique lines based on race like Valen did.
