Mandatory HP Lovecraft reference

Post » Mon Jan 24, 2011 8:59 am

Rather than just a blatant reference (which is appreciated) I would like to see them embrace the themes of Lovecraft.

Degenerate daedra worshippers hidden away in underground cults. Quests where you slowly piece together information to reveal a horrifying secret.

Although, rereading the "Case of Charles Dexter Ward" it might be cool to meet an eccentric NPC who is obsessed with learning about a long dead ancestor who dabbled in necromancy...and you know how it goes from there.

Second that. I actually suggested the same thing infinite threads back. I'd love to "explore" a Kerouen kind of basemant in total darkness.

The Thing in the Cave reference
Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath (I'd like this story ripped strait from the pages and made into a long epic side quest that's hard to find)

I strongly support this post.

Any kind of Cthulhu reference. While I'm really hoping to find Cthulhu himself frozen in a sheet of glass, in some underwater cavern off the coast.. I'd be happy with even a note left beside a dead adventurer, saying that he was writing these last few words after having his guts torn out by a giant, winged monster that had the head of an octopus. And it would be warning that no one should venture onward in case the monster still lurked within the area.

Seaside Hotel is good, it depends on the person of course. Seaside Hotel is over-rated for you, but I and many of my friends rather enjoyed the level. It's nowhere near as good as The Cradle, but still good nonetheless.

I'm not saying that it's overrated level design and atmosphere wise. It was easily one of the best levels I've ever played. I'm saying that it wasn't scary.

Granted it was not scary, but I would love something like the haunted house in Red dead, more expanded upon though

"Dreams in the Witch House". Or a large sea monster boss near some island in the ocean that looks like how Cthulu is described.

Hermaeus Mora is just begging for an underwater, non-euclidean temple.
