One thing I'd like Bethesda to take from WoW...

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 4:25 am

I've only ever played the WoW trial, but one thing I've seen people do on youtube videos that is technically an exploit is kiting. This is when players use weak attacks on a large boss to make them follow them without taking too much damage, eventually arriving in a city and watching the boss kill all the noob players.

I can just imagine getting attacked by one dragon, and while in a chase two more come after you, and then you take them to a large settlement and they cause hell >=) this was possible in Oblivion, but it would be hilarious to set bigger, badder bosses like dragons, giants, and ice wraiths on all the poor villagers

I imagine a couple flying dragons could fly faster than you run = you squished like a bug before you get within two clicks of that town. Better to stay and fight I'd say.

Let's hope horses are in, then ;)

That's going to be even more possible than it already was in Oblivion. Cities are going to be open now.

You could do this in Morrowind, Oblivion was limited by the closed cities, but you could still kite.
I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to do this in Skyrim, especially now that the cities are open, like in Morrowind.

Yup, just don't try to kite backwards, Beth have definitely vetoed that. You can still turn and run, if your willing to show that fire breathing behemoth your back.

I thought WoW was supposed to be a social game... Oh well...

I think you could already do this with most enemies in Oblivion though...

I remember this happening in Morrowind I ran across the continent and gathered a whole ton of cliff racers and ran through Calderra.

The guards had fun cleaning up. :flamethrower:

I was trying to get through an area with loads of cliffracers and kept dying untill I just let some guards mop them up.

Kiting is a legitimate strategy, also, though it's not very heroic I suppose. But who says I need to be heroic? Maybe my character is a glory-stealing swine who got lucky?

It's a pretty common strategy in many games. I always thought it was more of an RTS thing.

It sounds like they've slowed down your run speed going backwards, which makes kiting more difficult.
