Stealth Imporvements

Post » Wed Feb 02, 2011 7:48 pm

I have always been a stealth user in TES. From stealing to assassinations, I always loved the stealth aspects.

My question to all of you: What kinds of things would you like to see improved? I know that there is already a thread somewhere discussing the "Psychic Guards" and such, but are there other things you want changed? I would personally love to see an actual assassination ability, and I believe that there was mention by Bethesda of improving the usefulness of daggers. That would be amazing!

Also, having stolen items only be know in like, the town in which it was stolen. and maybe like expensive or enchanted items could be known elsewhere. idk, sounds cool to me.

well assassinations are in, and daggers do like 11x damage in stealth. They said that the AI won't be as exploitable as in Oblivion and if you manage to sneak up on someone you deserve the x11. As for stolen items, I'm sure they have fixed that, so many people complained about it idk why they wouldn't, and I'm sure they also fixed the guards, to what extent i'm not sure yet. I am a huge stealth role-player, and I'm very excited to see all the changes made for Skyrim :).

I think I read that they where testing with x10. So, as I understand maybe they could tone this down before release.

I hope the crime system is improved. In OB I would kill a NPC and then be charged 40 septims for assault... There was a nice topic about improvements that could be made to the crime system some time ago.

I must say I'm very pleased that bethesda confirmed that npc's will now have a "warning" status before running at you when you're sneaking, I hope it's similar to FO3 (hidden, caution, danger)

- Distractions (put out a light and a guard will walk over to relight it)
- Secret passage-ways, sewers, rooves, attics etc that aren't dungeons
- Level design especially for stealth options

I'm happy with the gameplay changes. So I'm really just hoping there is more than one stealth faction. As least 2 like oblivion.

Options are:
Camonna Tong
Crimson Scars
Dark Brotherhood
Morag Tong
Red Sabre
Thieves Guild

Depending on how Bethesda takes the lore, the only one i think is out of the question is red sabre, unless they have ice pirates.

I would like to actually be able to shoplift. A good thief (not that I'm an expert) can swipe items while others are around, and this skill seemed to allude me in Oblivion. I mean, sure you can break in after dark and clean the place out, but it's kinda cool to try one up Lohan and actually lift that necklace.

Oh no, look at the womans sitting posture, we have the prancy goody boy sitting animations that migrated over to skyrim from oblivion. I hope thats the only animation that has.

Also, smart on the assasin to kill near a gigantic light source focal point of an entire interior, disregarding the fact that 4 people are staring.

Morag Tong are surely out.
The implication seems to be that all of the Dunmer social institutions are dead as a dinosaur.

Is it confirmed city's will be open? that would help alot, you'll be able to scale the walls to get into a city without having to walk past the guards, which to be honest if guards see someone dressed in a dark brotherhood uniform and then there's a murder in the town the same night the guards should really have you as a suspect, perhaps apprehending you next time you come into town on suspension of murder, which is also where disguises could come in.

Are the Camonna Tong a stealth organization? I thought there were just a nationalist (or should i say provinceist) bunch of drug-runners.

Some over all tweaking to stealth would be nice. I want to be able to play a thief without having to hammer the quick save button. Also some thief themed gear whould be wonderful. In oblivion, high level light armor looked way to heavy for a thief.
