The Date

Post » Tue Feb 15, 2011 7:54 am

Minecraft has been released over the past two years, just hides in Beta to give people expectations.. because Notch is a [censored]. Aside from that it's a big fat time sync, people will stop playing it as soon as a game keeps them occupied this year.. Skyrim, for example.

I certainly wouldn't pay £18-19 pounds for when it decides to bunk up in price to tell everyone "YEAH MY GAME IS FINISHED NOW" then realise it's still the same boring game you've played for the last year or so. Because I'll be playing Skyrim.

Only problem with this topic... is that regardless of minecraft's "release" it will still be being updated and added to... the creator said on his blog that he basically just wanted to set a date that would be milestone on the game's development. Regardless, both games fill their own role in my life; minecraft for casual fun whenever everything is boring, or when i get inspiration to build something; while skyrim will be my addiction of choice for a few months, then slowly fade to a tolerable level

I play minecraft on an awesome server that strives to make the gameplay like TES hahaha but since Minecraft has been out for almost a year and this 'official release' is just when Notch is ready to call it a complete game, but even then it's gonna be 'under construction.' Skyrim is going to decimate it. Especially since Minecraft isn't coming out on Xbox, hahaha.

Minecraft is fun but after your first big burst, which can be 3-6 hours of play you get bored. Then you hardly play it like only once in awhile 3 hours a month. Skyrim will is what 11.11.11 is all about. I wonder if they will count us alpha guys who bought the game a year ago in final release sales.
Edit: Most of the people I speak to about minecraft have no idea what it is,that counts friends on PSN and XBL as well as passerby who overhear talk about it.

not sure if us alpha people will be counted
but i know notch said due to legal issues everyone who purchased it in alpha will get every expansion/dlc/new thing added for FREEE after the release. so thats cool.

Minecraft is fun, but its less of a game and more of something to mess around with.
But I don't care to be honest.

I view minecraft the same way I view stuff like farmville and the like. It's not really much of a video game, it's just something to screw around with if you really have nothing better to do. I played the alpha, it was kinda neat for a little while but got pretty boring; not to mention it really hasn't changed at all and the "release" is really just an irrelevant date Notch decided on. For any real RPG fan (or any gamer that plays more than facebook games on their pc, really) Skyrim is definitely going to be king.

Skyrim for sure. Atleast in my opinion. Mincraft is fun but I have been waiting for the Next Elder Scrolls game.

P.S. I am not going to fist fight Todd, thank you.

I like both equally. I bought minecraft back in August of last year and thanks to the alpha account I get everything free, including expansions. Here is the link to the post for people who don't have the link.

Also minecraft is fun depending on what games you like to play and if you like to experiment. Skyrim and Minecraft will be played around equally by me after the release of skyrim because for the first few months I will only be playing skyrim.

Yeah good idea, I'm sure if he poured the hate on you he could morph into a fire breathing dragon and whomp on you. He is a Demi God after all.
