Outdated Graphics?

Post » Tue Feb 15, 2011 7:57 pm

Haha I didn't! You gave a screenshot that is atrocious. Thankfully Salidin posted something substantial.

So I simply post something to show someone else something, and then you pipe up with your negative attitude for no real reason, bring nothing constructive to the issue? Of course you started it.

Thankfully Salidin knows the difference between constructive criticism and just plain negative criticism.

I shouldn't have done anything. You posted a shoddy screen. I never asked for someone to post screens of anything.

Then why did you click on my link in the first place? And why did you feel it necessary for you to express your opinion on the matter if you "shouldn't have done anything"? And why did you thank Salidin for posting other screens?
makes perfect sense.

The why of the graphical difference between a linear, small-rendered area game like Crysis vs an open world game has been explained over, and over, and over again.

I guess is going to be very frustrating for some to play Skyrim with the "outdated" graphics.

Frankly, I don't see what's so great about the Crysis graphics... the sun-through-the-trees looks great, but overall, the models don't look any better than anything in Fallout, the textures do look plastic-like (too shiny and not natural), and the bump maps are almost non-existent, so there's really no detail on the objects.

If you ever played in the sandbox editor its actually pretty large in comparisons to most FPS games. As for graphics theres photo realistic mods as well that do make it look far better then any game on the market models and all.

If Skyrim has similar faces i will be in love.. http://www.joystiq.com/media/2006/04/crysis-face_render.jpg

ok lets do math

Average Family:
Has
-PC (home computer shared) spent around $1300-1500 on it because they bought from a store such as Best buy Wal-mart, or Dell
-Console (gaming needs for children or self) Paid $150 (give and take between PS3 and Xbox 360)
-A new game every 6 months costing $60(70 soon) $120 a year
(repeat first two every 10 years or so another $1400 down the drain.)

Total price- $~1670

Thats average

FRESH PC gaming that knows where to get it and what to get it
-TOP OF THE LINE PC $~1200 (Average PC $~600)
-Accessories $200
- Games cost $50 usually if not less if you get steam deals which can go down to $2-10 for older/indie games games and gives discounts on series packs (10 games for $70) pretty much once a twice a year.. $100
(Upgrade every 4-5 years $200 on a new GPU adding $400 every 10 years)

Total Price $~1500 if you get top of the line $~900 if you get average

Current PC owner that learns or get help from online sites/personal friends and family
-GPU/Ram upgrade $~300
- Games same as previous $100
(upgrade every 4-5 years GPU adding $400 every 10 years)
Total Price $400

If you do have a console you can sell it for $30 games sell them for $10-25(pending on what it is) to people (better deals then they are going to get elsewhere) that will drop that $400 quickly.. when you say "YOU CAN"T SELL GAMES" wrong.. Ebay=monay i have sold around 30 games for $5-20 each (N64 games) which is what paid for a good share on my new rig.

There is really no way you can deny it cause i can go through links after links showing you each of them...

I pretty much agree with you, but do you know what "top of the line" means? A top of the line gaming pc would have a 2600k (not completely sure but I think it outperforms or matches the EE 1366s in gaming benchmarks), sli gtx 590s, 16gb of oc ram, a large sata III ssd (I think the V3's will be out soon), etc. The graphics alone on a "top of the line" machine is over $1200.

$1200 will get you a medium pc that can be upgraded to high end. That said you wouldn't need even that to play pretty much any game out.

I'll have you know was suspended because I'm against censorship.

Anyway, since the thread is about to die I'll throw in this http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w216/Adamhay123/pcvsconsole.jpg . That better?

Edit:( I hope most of you know this is a joke)

So it is very large in comparison to most FPS games... what about Fallout? As large as that? With as many collision objects as that? Not even close. So, why bring Crysis up in the first place?

Is that rendered face from a cut-scene, or gameplay?

I have not seen the "photo-realistic" mods, so I can't really comment on those, but then, these are mods, so... still, the meshes don't look all that.

Again, I don't really care either way. I just think people are going to be frustrated playing the game if they don't think the graphics are what they think as being "next-gen".

if you want to pay for overkillx3 go ahead with that. :hubbahubba: I pretty much based mine on this http://i1002.photobucket.com/albums/af150/The_FalconO6/CurrentLogicalPCBuyingGuide/Guide.png
Insane is pretty much as much as i would ever spend on a PC (+ the rest of the addons of course)
Also like to wait for prices to come down so in about 3 months it will look similar but with better hardware

Yeah, top of the line pretty much implies ridiculously overkill. And I agree that you don't really need to spend more than $1000-1500 to max out pretty much any game. But the enthusiast model on that chart isn't even close to top of the line.

You realize that the 360 is 5 years old, right? If you have a 5 year old PC, you can't continue to make new games run on it without upgrading. Deal with it.
