Creating your "work" space. What will your desk/livi

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 7:02 pm

Yup it's time for another "time out" thread. I'm a PC guy so I'm thinking of having adequate ventilation in the form of my Arctic Cooling desk fan (nice little product) and the bar fridge stocked with liquid caffeine ready to pump into my veins. Don't forget the cordless phone to ring in dominos. Have I forgotten anything?

Endless piles of trash around the trash can, since I can't be bothered to get off Skyrim to put it in the can, and I can't throw it in.

Minifridge behind me, triple monitor setup in front of me, laptop in front of my monitors (for research/note taking without needing to alt tab, otherwise closed and asleep) 40 inch TV for breaks (connected to laptop, which is connected to 1 tb hd filled with all the movies and shows I have copied from my dvd collection) when my eyes start to hurt. As for toilet, I can walk a flight of stairs :P

Oh and phone in pocket for pizza and emergencies.

By the way, I'm extremely jealous of you guys. I wish I could set aside that much time to play the game, but I know that when this game is released, I'm going to be really busy. I won't have more than an hour a day to play it :(

I might get about 3 hours in on sundays though, so I'm looking forward to that at least :)

I'll be sitting on a worn boulder, fully naked, my long beard will be the only thing keeping the arctic wind from the cave mouth from chilling me further. On one side of me will be the fresh corpse of an elk, gutted and ready for eating - and on the other there will be a barrel of nordic beer, complete with a tap. By my feet will rest the skull of a slain enemy, ready as a vessel for my beer. The cave will be sparsely furnished, perhaps a few painted bones or trinkets littering the floor for good luck, but not furniture or other amenities. On the walls behind me the carving of Alduin's wall I have spent the last 3 months painstakingly carving with a mammoth tooth will be completed, and staring down at me as I sit on my boulder. In front, balancing on the skeleton of a bear, will be my water cooled 8 core gaming PC, melting snow funnelled into tubes of hollow bone will slowly wind their way into it, keeping it at a temperature of 5 degrees C at all times. On the ceiling above, my captured slave child from the Mongolian steppes will be painting each frame of the game by hand as the VGA Neural connection wires transmit the data to his brain. Lastly, as the wind and snow howls from outside and the echoing of the mountains rumbles like thunder, I will open my mouth and use the power of the Voice, or Thu'um if you will, to control the game directly. Each shout will pierce the very fabric of the game itself and allow me to experience Skyrim the way it's meant to be played.

I imagine my room will look pretty much the way it does now. I don't expect Skyrim to change anything.

Yeah, my room will be the same. Well.. except there will be a Skyrim game case on top of the tv, and a game disc in the xbox. But other than that, the same. Unless we get a paper map like we did with Morrowind and Oblivion, in which case, there will be a paper map of Skyrim hanging on the wall to accompany the maps of Vvardenfell and Cyrodiil.

Well I keep the Man Room pretty clean, but I'll prob have my map dry mounted and propped up on a pillow while I sit back on my couch with my lap desk and strategically placed pillows to reduce arm strain and fatigue, playing the beauty of SR on my 42" TV, most likely I'll have a beer or wine on the table next to me, also my laptop will be open in the event I want to google something.

on a side note i use Chrome as my browser and it did not like that I didn't capitalize Google.

^Can't think of a better reason to get divorced than to make time for Skryim.

My space will probably look the same, just with a different (new) PC. Maybe some sort of alcoholic beverage nearby to help me relax and enjoy the game.
