grab,pounce and charge

npcs never try to grab the player!! i want to change this

guards might try to apprehend the player
bandits might try to grab the player to stick the player, or to throw the player to the floor
trolls might pick the player up and throw him, or throw items at the player
dragons might pick the player up and drop the player
dogs should bite the player and hold on with their teeth rather than simply head but the player.
fish might try to drag the player underwater

an npc's grabing skill would be dictated by a few simple things

how much damage it does
effects
if it paralyzes the limb, or the whole body
if npc's can throw the player
if the npc's can drag/carry the player
if an npc becomes unable to use something (teeth, arm, tail, claws)
if npc's can throw objects

this would also be great for the player...

enemies should also be able to pounce!
and if the pounce knocks the player over, the npc should be able to attack the player whilst down
some npc's should rely on this, dogs would use it extensively and would be most vulnerable whilst jumping, human enemies may surround the player, jump in, swing and retreat.
enemies might be able to pin the player
enemies might have a deadly attack to use on pinned opponents, like a dog ripping a throat or an impalement by a weapon

npcs should also be able to use the sprint function!!! with unique sprint attacks!

No throwing the player, that is just annoying, not to mention possibly disorienting in first person. Other than that, yes, so long as you can fight back at all times.

I wouldn't mind animals biting more often (and holding on and shaking) and not just slashing at you with a head or claw swipe.

And NPCs could have a 'tougher' collision box so you can't just run through a wall of people.

Taaaaaaank!!! :bill:
:flamethrower:

This idea will probably not be a feature beyond your average wild wolf. I do however see some combat oriented mods that could implement the idea.
That's the great thing about Bethesda games... If you don't like an aspect of it, you can just mod it to perfection :shifty:

EDIT: Oh, and spiders.... definately spiders....

Well I agree with this to an extent. I think throwing an enemy to the ground should absolutely be in the game. I think we need more grab, kick/trip options too. After all, a major part of combat when fighting with melee weapons like that is tripping or knocking your opponent down so that they're on the ground and vulnerable to attack. I don't really care if it's disorienting in first person or not, that's part of combat. However.. don't see this happening.. yet. I wouldn't like to see my character being picked up and carried away, or dragged off. Now that would be annoying, and would pretty much kill the gameplay, as you'd be completely helpless while you just sat there and watched your character be dragged away.

As far as beasts latching on, it would be more realistic. I'd like to see wolves and such try to tackle you and wrestle you to the ground (not that it should be easy for them to do, if at all.) But an attempt would be nice.

Damn, I wanted to put an NPC in a figure-four leg lock.

Off Topic: Please stop making poorly written threads, with ideas which have a really big chance of not being liked by anyone almost twice everyday or so.
And also please stop saying stuff like: "there needs to be...!", "They should..!", "I want...!". It'd be much nicer to say things like: "It would be cool if.." or "I would like..."

On Topic: And for the idea, I don't like being thrown around. I already hate being paralised, and being flung around without the possibility to do anything is even worse. Although I wouldn't mind being knocked back by really strong opponents, but not by bandits or imps. But the idea of being able to throw stuff looks good,, I don't know how they'd implement it, but sure.

You should see his other threads. He usually starts a graphics flame war and then disappears and never posts in his thread again. He's gotten pretty good at it.

This sounds really cool, but it takes a crap load of codes to make this happen. If they haven't included this, I don't think there is enough time to do so.
