Tranquility Lane

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:07 pm

Ok, I don't have much time to post right now but, I played through this part of the quest last night and loved it. Now I think it'd make a good roleplay idea. Setting and story are self explanitory - random simulated suburban street ruled over by an insane Overseer.
The originality comes in the way I want to act this out. You see, most of you are going to play as normal people, trapped in the simulation but we are going to have somebody who is calling the shots covertly. Everybody will post normally and our murderer will, once a day send me a post as the Overseer in which, without giving his identity away he'll cause havok for the residents of the lane. As a resident its your job to try to find out who our mystery overseer is.

So would anyone be interested in rping this? I'll be expanding upon it later if people express an interest

THis definatly seems it can work if played right
In my opinion it should be numerous different scenarios created by the insane Overseer in which players must try to survive. If a player dies(which most, or all most likely will) he/she cannot post till the next scenario begins, reseting tranquility lane
To make it interisting players will die alot, but can be brought back next scenario

Thats my idea anyways

That might be good but I thought if people died in the lane then they were dead. Alos the overseer would have to put themselves through the torture too. The way I was planning on doing it is based on a murder mystery style thing but with more torture and varied punsihment

Pigeon, only in the failsafe. If you read the other logs on the failsafe computer about the other simulations, you'll read stuff about people impaling themselves on poles and such.

Nice idea. And like you said...The only problem is the Overseer one.

This kind of RP would interest me.

I am in if you decide to make anything like this.

The residents MUST be completely unaware of what is going on until it is blatantly in their face. Just like in the simulation in F3.

Start one right now!!!

And yes in the terminals it shows that the residents die repeatidly, but the system resets and they are all fine. Only if the failsafe is activated they will stay permanently dead(which coul dbe the goal of the game)

Ok, I should add that I won't be rping directly (its hard for me to do so because I'll know who the overseer is...) So I'll be fulfilling DM functions. I want to get an overseer before I begin this so can anyone who fancies the position pm me. For this to work well I need a good roleplayer to play the overseer. Also I must have misread the terminals thingy when I did the quest  but that works well for the rp.

Warning before you apply for overseer, I'll want you to do some jobs:

I'll need a quick alternative sheet for each of the other rpers (a proper set of false memories though they don't have to be very detailed)
I actually like Bacon's idea a lot (hope ya don't mind me stealing :D ) and it means that there are easy times for extra people to join in so a brief description of each level would be nice
You need to be very active on the forums because if you leave the rp, it collapses.

Base sheet (applies to all, appearance isn't necessary because your real form won't be seen though its there if you want it)

Name
age
gender
personality
appearance
Bio

Virtual sheet (can be changed by the overseer at any time and will then be pmed to rper Do Not Fill In personality shines through and people who are unlike their original selves are more likely to become aware of the simulation)
Name
age
gender
appearance
bio (memories)

So, it's like Mafia/The Werewolf Game, only with one Wolf? Sounds interesting, but the mechanics of it might become problematic.

You should definatly get started, although you could potentially play overseer. You will just put people through hell while they try and survive, and find a way out. Guess kinda like a Saw scenario.
Or your way works too. Either way till be fun

Naa, if I played the overseer it'd spoil it, I want the mystery :D seriously though we needs an Overseer which means I need a volunteer.

Is this the "official" thread of this virtual reality RP? So, do I wrote my character sheet here?

I just thought, maybe Evil_pigeon could be the system AI of some sorts. He would get PM from the Overseer and set up the scenes. I really don't know.

Start one right now!!!

I am not going to start anything. I can't.

no this is an ideas thread, I'll post the proper thread when I start the rp. before that though I need to get an overseer onboard because without on the roleplay won't work. I can't do it because the goal of the roleplay is to discover which character is the overseer.

Also system AI is a good cover, that'd work well... maybe I should allow anyone else who becomes aware of their simulation some control?

Discovering fail-safe terminals?

But not disengaging safety protocols, AI would take care of those.
