Start-up system?

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 4:09 am

Hey Guys,

I hope I am speaking for a few others here when I ask: what is the perk system in TES V and how does it work? How does the start up (eg.class, birthsign, attributes, skills) compare with Oblivion?

Please don't respond with links as they are usualy very hard to understand-written in nerd language. I would rather have one of you guys explain it to me.

From what we've been told there are no classes, birthsigns, and there's been quite a bit of discussion on whether or not attributes have been removed. There are no longer any greater and lesser skills, they are now equal for level progression.

We dont know the full details of these yet, but from what has been said there is now no class system, so you no longer choose 7 skills that advance faster than the rest.

Each skill advances the same at the start, although as you use skills and they start advancing, the higher the level the faster they advance.

Nothing has been said about Birthsigns or attributes, but we do know that their are less skills with plenty of guesses on what those skills are that have been removed/combined but no definate answers excep for the magic skill that was removed (cant remember which it was)

With regards to the Perk system as far as I can make out it will be based on the skills and each skill with have a number of branches for perks.

for example the 2 handed skill will have perk branches for:

2 handed swords
2 handed maces
Dual Weilding

each of these will have perks associated with them that you can take.

So even if 2 players take the 2 handed skill, they may look very different in combat with this skill if they take different brances of the perks.

Attributes aren't confirmed. Many people think they have been cut all together.

This is a BIG area of uncertainty for us at this time. While Todd and co have reveled bits about the leveling structure, because it is so different from other TES titles, as fans we will make our judgements in the first hours of gameplay. My intuition tells me not to fear as Todds comments seem to make sense, and the new style of leveling appears to be where they have been moving towards in each iteration of TES games.

Wait, do we know that DW is 2-handed based? Shouldn't it be 1-handed, since you, you know, use 1-handed weapons?
