The Diary of Jarod

Friday, August 17th

Those backbiters....after growing up with them for nearly twenty years, the damned overseer tried to have me killed! If Amata hadn't helped me, I probably wouldnt even have made it out of my old room. Now Im out here in this...wasteland, the air is stagnant and smells like dead things, the water burns going down. I found this town, Megaton, the sheriff said its built around an undetonated Nuke! I cant believe these crazy wastelanders are still here. Im staying in the common house right now, it smells worse that the wasteland does, but....until I can find dad's trail, its the best I got.

I met some of the towns people of import today...the doctor, Church, he comes off like he doesnt care about anyone, but he's a doctor, so I dont quit believe thats really him. I also met Moira, the owner of a general store here in town, strange girl, but she says she will pay me to do some work for her, and I will need something to get some food. She hired me to do a simple little job, go to some grocery store, get some food and meds, and come back, only problem...there were already a bunch of people holed up in there, and they didnt want any company, there must have been nearly a dozen of them...I dont know how the hell I made it out of there, but I managed to get the stuff. When I made it back to Megaton, Moira gave me a food sanitizer, which makes the food a little better...still tastes like rat tongue.

Almost forgot, some wastelander in front of the super duper mart told me about some place up in the north, Oasis, says he saw "The Great One" and alot of green trees.....I gotta thank this guy for showing me why I shouldnt get all hopped up on chems.

Saturday, August 18th

I had some molerat meat for breakfast this morning, I thought I was allergic at first, but Moira said it was radiation poisoning, she sounded almost excited, because she wanted to do some research on it, so, she fixed me up an gave me some rad meds. She hired me to go out to some town they call Minefield, and to try to bring her back a mine, and not only was it really a minfield, there was a sniper there too, luckily for me I brought a stealthboy with me, I snuck up behind the friggin' sniper, and he never saw it coming.

I heard this guy, "President" Eden on the radio today, pompous windbag, but, he sounds like a decent enough person anyway, the only other radio station comes in about as well as a three legged dog in a race, they dont like this Eden guy for some reason.

I met a real waste of even this irradiated oxygen, this guy named Moriarty, wanted me to take care of some junkie for info about Dad, but I talked to the girl, and we made a deal, and I got a couple hundred caps out of it. That little molerat Moriarty didnt even have any solid info, just said he went to Three Dogs radio station "somewhere in the DC ruins", now all I have to do is find one single building in the ruins of an entire city, and I can find Dad...

Sounds pretty good, but remember to proof-read first. Also, try not to follow the MQ exactly, add some twists and turns like Eileen.

Coming along nicely! I agree with Shadowman on following the MQ too closely. I mean, you can, but throw in some fodder -- even some stuff you've made up. It'll keep it fresh for those of us who have finished the game.

There are a few places that have great visuals, like "the water burns going down". Great stuff.

Hey, we know about real life :)

I think my horse forgot who I was. She head-butted me into a bale of hay today. Oof!

I'll be writing more this weekend -- I hope!
