Um... Have I posted here before?

Post » Tue Mar 08, 2011 9:22 pm

I'm having a hard time telling which threads I have posted in. Most forums mark them somehow, either by making the title bold or with a colored icon or something.

This forum doesn't seem to. I can post in a thread and then come back in 30 minutes and have no idea if there's anything interesting there. Am I missing something? I don't seem to recall that it was always like this. Didn't the threads used to be bolded?

What have I done??

First of all, this is probably not the best place to post this. Should've just PM'ed a moderator.

Anyway, when you're looking through the list of threads, there's a little speech bubble icon to the left of the thread title. If it's lit up, there's new stuff in the thread. If it's not, there's nothing new.

There's also a watch thread button above the OP to the right when you're reading a thread, which I've never used before but I assume will tell the forum to alert you when new posts have been made.

The threads you've posted in should have the icon of a eye by them indicating your watching them. If this isn't happen you need to change your watch thread setting, or you need to manually tell it to watch a thread. You can find the threads you've made or the things you've posted by going to your profile and clicking "My Topics." or "My Content" or "My Posts". They all can lead to you to stuff you've done here.

Nonsense. This shouldn't be locked. At least I wouldn't think so. This is a legitimate question about the forum.

Maybe what I'm saying isn't clear. There used to be an at-a-glance way to tell when I should check a thread (new content). It used to be that any new posts in the thread made the thread bold (I think).

For one reason or another this doesn't happen anymore. Something has changed and I'm trying to change it back. I can't figure out how. This isn't spam, I'm serious.

True, but we have a community discussion section for off-topic questions like this, or, like I said before, you could just PM a mod for a quick answer.

Read my above post for the answer to your question.

BINGO!

Thanks guys. The profile options and the speech bubble were the things I was looking for. The speech bubble in particular.

Sorry about being off topic. I see that you are correct on that point as well.

Thanks! ... and apologies.

This would have been moved rather than locked, and either way it is unconstructive to post in a thread to say it will be locked (doubly so when you're incorrect). Instead people should report threads that need moderator attention.

Since this question has been answered I'll lock it now rather than move it.
