Will it be possible to quickscope?

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 3:19 am

Never said quick scopes are going to work, just said at short or mid range, people wont do the typical COD ADS style but more of the Halo "I have a small reticle already looking at you, why should I zoom?".

I understand, but who would hip-fire a single-shot short rifle at mid-range? Truthfully, I'll only hip-fire a single-shot weapon if it's a pistol or I'm not playing to win. Considering these short rifles are mock snipers that prospective quick-scopers will use, how they use it at mid-range comes down to any sights equipped: red dot, reaction, or anything not long range will be viable in mid-range encounters. ACOG or other scopes that magnify will be pointless to ADS with at mid-range unless you have the skill to bring up your scope right on their body.

Essentially, I'd only use the short rifle in mid-range combat when it surprises me and I have a sight for mid-range shooting. Otherwise, I'll take cover, pull out the side arm, give them time to get closer but not enough time to kill me with a nade, then pop out and do all the damage I can with the best weapon for the job. Knowing how much time it's gonna take to kill someone in Brink, I'm not gonna pretend I can survive long enough in this scenario to hip-fire enough rounds into him to kill him. With a 5-round magazine, gotta account for that pesky variable of reloading.

I would. It works on other games. Why not here?

I dare say that is possibly the one comment no one expects on a Brink forum.

For one thing, I expect the Brink community to be better skilled than to be unable to kill someone sorely disadvantaged. Its Combat 101 to play the range your weapon is outfitted for.

You'd think that...But not everyone who is getting brink was on this forum. Some kid's parent may get it and he thinks it is just like CoD and take it like that.

So he'll stick to his CoD tactics

We should all hope it isn't possible, I think it's ridiculous. There's nothing cool about it.

I sincerely doubt it and hope not. Seriously I want to watch some lights try and quickscope a heavy before getting destroyed in a hail of lead.

i cannot agree more.

And get murked in every game, ending the day with a staggering 14 XP. I'm with you on that one, play the game you're playing like it's the game you're playing.

I kinda don't wanna say it on a forum for a heavily team-based game, but I rarely play to win. I help out, absolutely, but I'm rarely serious in the process. In the scenario I painted before, that's what I'd do if I wanted to survive and the enemy not to. As a light, I could just look for a way to run. Or I may have an abnormal case of the giggles and charge him while rapidly switching weapons and jumping until he kills me. I don't care, I'll do what I find fun; Brink is only a game. My point is that anyone who plays intelligently wouldn't handle this mid-range scenario with a quick-scope, and may very well not even ADS with their short rifle. Maybe ADS behind good cover, but at mid-range, the foe wouldn't have to run far to be on your side of the cover you were behind. Get close with a pistol, or run. Anything else is going back to when you were 6 and your only justification was "NOOO, I shot you FIRST!"

Technically, no; gotta throw the "this isn't Halo" semantic your way. Plus, my nades aren't always so lucky.

I'm a very light-hearted gamer. I don't get mad when I die. I don't care if team mates "steal my kills". It's a video game. I bought it to have fun, so I play it however I perceive to be fun. I love tactical/objective gametypes. I go for the objective, I kill people, I make jokes along the way, and I'm not so arrogant to think there's always time to teabag. Truth is, everything has to be approached on a case-by-case basis. Ya wanna know how I play, come play a few games with me. Consider this an invitation to anyone who reads it. If you get annoyed that I keep laughing everytime I chase enemies with a nade they just dropped at my feet, then don't play with me. I think it's hilarious. If you have a sense of humor, that's about all I find it takes to have fun playing a game on my team.

However, there's another thing I like to do in games. I like to max out characters and collect collectibles. You need to hunt down COG tags, newspapers, terminals, lunchboxes, whatever... I'm always down. Most often, and particularly in a game where it should take at least two full play-throughs to reach one character's level cap, I play for XP and unlocks. I want everything. I want the ACOG for my knife, if there's one to be had. In regards solely to Brink, I expect I'll make A LOT of my choices based on XP potential, which you bet is gonna involve being the good little team player Splamage wants.

So... maybe I'm a schizophrenic gamer? I dunno, it's a toss-up. Shoot me an invite and see what ya get.
