Dovakiihn Emperor

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 12:44 pm

In the February edition of Gameinformer, Todd Howard states that, “ [The dragonborn are...] annointed by the gods. That's why they can light the dragonfires to become an emperor.”

So, as the dragonborn, you have the potential to become emperor. Do you think the dragonborn actually will become emperor? I think this could be cool.

If the dragonborn does become emperor, I hope it gets fleshed out, like in Fable 3. It's not enough to just get a title. It has got to be more than just NPCs referring to you as emperor. I want to make decisions that carry weight and will affect the empire.

The TH quote I used is on page 57, in paragraph 3 of the February edition of Gameinformer.

Unikely. The Dragonfires are not needed anymore if I'm not mistaken. And the game is set in Skyrim, so the best you could hope for would be king of Skyrim. I don't see this happen though.

I certainly don't hope so. Also I think ^^^ is right in saying that it wouldn't really make sense, lore-wise.

I think you may be right, in that being King of Skyrim is more likely. I can think of a scenario in which the dragonfires would be needed again.

The Amulet of kings is needed to light the dragon fires and it was destroyed 200 years earlier, plus the dragon fires are pointless because of Martin banishing Dagon as akatosh.

I have a feeling Tiber Septim is going to be reincarnated somehow. He was afterall a Nord and a dragonborn, if I remember correctly.

The dragon born is refering to the Septem line,I think and not the Dovakiihn.

Also, logicly,TES is about a wide world to explore, fights and quests, not sitting on a throne ruleing, you're more of a catalyst for events...

He could also have been a Breton that allied himself with A nord named Wulfharth. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Tiber_Septim
I like the Nord version better though.

Edit: grammar

the septim line was dovahkiin, but that dude from the infernal city wasn't, or at least not that I know off, maybe he becomes the 10th divine? or for nords the 9th one? and his kin becomes emperor,
however since no skyrim king I think that is an aim much more reachable

You wont become anyone so noteworthy that they'd need to be entered into history by name. It's ok to have these anonymous heroes but I don't think they'd refer to Emporer or King Dovahkin in the next TES games.

PC ala the Nerevarine, you think?

Can't say I like Tiber enough to like this idea. :ermm: But I suppose it works.

I hope he doesn't become the emporer, though. I want the character to fade away with the next game. I didn't even feel good with the way Oblivion's character was handled.

This isn't goddamned Fable! stop comparing TES to such a lesser RPG.

I think he meant like in MW. Search "Wulf" on the uesp site if you don't know what that means

When I heard the backstory of the game, about the Dovakiihn, the first thing that came to my mind was when the main quest is complete the Dovakiihn will be the Emporer and rule, since there is none..... like in Fable.

I wonder how much influence Fable has/had on the devs and if they decide to do something similar. So far, once the hero completes the main quest they go on to do nothing. There is not real finality, as in all TES games. While being Emporer could be a finality it doesn't have to be. You could be an Emporer who continues to quest and do things you want.

I wouldn't mind being the Emporer, but there can't be a finality to the game. It has to continue if you want.

This is incorrect, the septim line is merely the most well known line of dragonborns.

A major public historical figurehead would be recorded in history books, ESPECIALLY the emperor of Cyrodiil. That can not happen.

Possible but unlikely you'll end up as a true throne-sitting ruler. It doesn't seem that BGS wants to deviate from their game model of you being an unnamed hero.

I wouldn't be against it though.
