Option to transfer inventory (suggestion)

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 8:15 am

Moving loot from house to house is a pain.
I think it would be cool to have some sort of "transfer inventory" option when buying a new place.
What does everyone else think?

Yes, it's called picking it up and carrying it.

Indeed. And how hard could that be with fast travel?

Haha I cant tell you how many trips and feather spells it took me to bring my gear from Rosethorn hall to Battlehorn castle in Oblivion.

Hire some beggars to transport the stuff. Gives you something to spend your money on at higher levels and gives them something to do besides ask you for a coin. Of course your items just might not make it if you know what I mean. Not really serious, but I never really thought of it.

Maybe you could buy a special trunk for any house. When you open it up you can put in or take out items and it gives an option to have it transported to another house you own (a drop down menu or something). It would cost money dependent on how far away the trunk has to go. It would be "picked up" and "delivered" by the towns delivery service/coach system. But that seems unlikely to be an option in any form in Skyrim. You'll just have to lug it there yourself.

Are you suggesting something like the Mojave Express?

I liked the luggage from COBL, it was basically a container that "followed" you by being in inns, camps, etc. I am pretty sure it was just multiple containers that shared the same inventory. Not very realistic, but I liked it.

I just usually bought one house. But that would be a neat feature.

I like the idea of being able to hire someone to move your stuff for you. Even if all it does is put it all in a chest in the other house. If scripting is the same or close to oblivions and this is a vanilla feature it would be incredibly easy to adapt custom house mods to the system.

A barter perk called Long Haul. You could still FT even if encumbered.

So yeah.

I agree with above post, theres a reason that people made saddle bags for horses.

I like the saddle bags idea, but I think Velorien was talking about the Mojave Express drop boxes.

Pack everything into chests, load onto a horse drawn wagon/carriage and pray you aren't waylaid by bandits!

Already exists...massive strength boosting, powerful Feather spells, and start hauling. Need to waste dev time coding a new way to do what can already be done? Zero. :D
