Lucien Lachance

I don't have a problem with the voice actor coming back, he was fine.

But choose the topic title more carefully, at first I was a little annoyed because I thought this was a redundant topic. Lachance died in OB, he's not coming back, especially not 200 years later. He is dead. Deader than dead in fact. Dead as a doornail. He's kicked the bucket, bit the big one, given up the ghost, and all that jazz.

In fact, to use tvtropes, http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/SortingAlgorithmOfDeadness/VideoGames:

Cause of Death: Overkill if I've ever heard of it, 4.
Genre: Anyone can die. Anyone. Even characters essential to the main quest. 4.
Body found: Eh, we'll be generous and be literal. We never see him buried, and the corpse is marred beyond recognition, we'll say 'at the morgue'. 3.
Reaction: All of the black hand members present have witty one liners about how they killed him. 4.
Last Words: Talked about how Applewatch was safe, and that he'd meet you there to root out the traitor. It's not too much of a stretch to justify a 4.
Characterization: Isn't in the main quest, only in this game. 3.
When did they die: It's been 5 years since OB, 3.
Have they died and come back: Not that we know of. 4.

Add them all up, divide by 8 to average them out.....

3.625 out of 4.

Yeah, he's dead.

You mean the actual Lucien? Or his voice actor? I think he is fine as he is, a rotting corpse hanging in a cottage in the Cyrodiilic Mountains. Is there even a Dark Brotherhood chapter in Skyrim?
What do you mean by similar? Burke and Lachance were nothing alike. Burke was straight up evil, the Brotherhood were working for the greater good (atleast in my eyes)

How so? Burke was just a greedy bastard who only cares about the money but Lachance was a veteran assassin, besides how is killing someone for "profit, enjoyment and the glory of our dread father: Sithis" (paraphrasing) the greater good?

I know you aren't a gal. Because most women here loved his voice. ;)

If only those women had seen his picture..... :P. The voice actor that is.

I never really understood the obsession with this guy, or his voice. He was an idiot in game (Lucien).... basically allowing .... er nevermind I won't post spoilers, but hopefully you get the picture.

Obsession with his voice because he was awesome, and the fact that he could voice a character like Lucien Lachance and most hardcoe fans that actually post on the forum for the game don't seem to realize he was also the voice of Imperial males and Sheogorath. That's an awesome voice right there.

I also wouldn't really call him an idiot, he was just unfortunate. Could have happened to any of the Black Hand.

As an easter egg. Maybe a quest to find Lachance's skull or something. :D

If you mean the character then no since he's dead. If you mean the voice actor then sure.

It did happen to all the members of the Black Hand, seems kind of hard to believe that
Spoiler
a traitor could work themselves that deep into a guild of assassins..... The Night Mother herself basically said if they were too stupid to realize this I might as well clean house...

Anyways, no disrespect to the voice actor himself, because obviously he's got talent. I just never understood the fascination....

The voice actor Wes Johnson was also the Arena announcer and Sheogorath, among other voices. He'll probably be back, just using different voices.

My last name is Lachance and the first time I saw Lucien, I thought that Bethesda had some sort of way to look at my files and figure out my last name and put it in the game.

Its a very unusual real last name and it took me a few minutes to be convinced otherwise!

We need another cold-hearted character with similar voice work. Agreed.

Making him part of the Dark Brotherhood would be redundant, so do something original with it. Murderous beggar that you have to uncover and remove from the Thieves' Guild. Someone who tries to kill you in your sleep.

I still remember being in elementary school and being woken up from a sound Oblivion sleep at 3 AM on the day Oblivion came out. I was snowed in at my best friend's house and he had long gone to sleep. Amazing amazing amazing moment. I actually played the game with the brightness turned down to increase the atmosphere for all of those quests. Bad medicine took me from sunset to sunrise to complete with the bonus. The Dark Brotherhood was the best quest line in Oblivion, and had an appropriately superior guide for its duration (Lachance).

Burke, on the other hand, was a creepy addition to a universe swarming with creeps. I killed him on sight and I think that the parallels between him and Lachance helped me to understand the gravity of this action. I'd just taken a major plot point and shoved three ten millimeter bullets through its head without completely screwing my play experience. This is the best game of all time.

So yes, there MUST be a Lachance, and he must be important in some way. Choosing to side with him or not MUST be a decision which ways heavily upon the players soldiers, and which helps define a character as good or evil. If Lachance appears to late, he'll lose his impact. If he's in it near the start, possibly as one of the first major 'Karma' choices, then he'll have been done write.

Assassins are fairly disposable, most of them should die in every elder scrolls game. Lucien lived longer than most anyway.

Poor Lucien. Made me sad when he died and I'm a cold blooded assassin. Glad that all but one of the black hand got their just desserts bwahahaha.

That explains why I hated both Lucien Lachance and Mr. Burke.

Didn't like Lucien Lachance - By Sithis, HOW?

Lucien Lachance was an Assassin/Sith hybrid, dosed in pure awesomeness.

Well, I'm looking forward to seeing Borba Gra Uzgash, the worlds greatest general store owning orc female.

Let's hope she hasn't been clearing out dungeons, and locking them to her level.

OT : Everyone says Wes is awesome, but he voiced Sheogorath, how can anyone listen to that bad impersonation of an American trying to do a bad and inconsistent impression of Scots/Irish/whatever the hell it's supposed to be before he forgets what accent he was attempting and changes it, without visibly squirming?

No, because he's dead. Sad though, he was one of my favorite characters in Oblivion.

I'd love to see a similar character in Skyrim though and I'm quite sure there will be someone at least a bit like him.

I don't think Lucien will return, because he's pretty much dead, but I do hope they bring back Wes Johnson to do the voice acting for a few characters. I think it was mainly his voice that made Lucien so amazing, and Sheogorath one of the most memorable computer game characters ever (in my opinion).
